Walker thoughts 2022?

Play him at 14 and if a Centre goes down put him there or anywhere else as backline cover. He can basically play anywhere in the backs and 9, lock, linkman. If he gets a shot at Centre and kills it there, then maybe that’s where he stays, but that would mean Lawman to 14. It’s a good problem to have. Oh I see @BOZO Has stoked the good ole Walker/Parker debate already and a balls not even kicked! There’s every chance Walker and Parker could be our starting centres this year. Who knows, tine will tell. And remember how we looked V Souths with Parker out and Moses in. Parker runs sone of the best lines in the nrl. He will start on one side.
Footy forums are always great for a debate @Waz13 . Every one has their favourite players and I would like to see some potency in our centre positions . I am used to our dynamic grand final winning Benchmark centres of the past .
I hope the speedy Koula lives up to that benchmark . Young Harper also has skill and after only a year in the NRL he has a lot of improvement in him I believe .

Injuries will determine whether there are changes to our centres
I think form should determine whether there should be changes

As competition gets the best out of players

and it prevents complacency

We have 30 players to be loyal to and not just 17

I not seen Parker as yet but I am impressed with Harper bulking up in off season it the size he needs against likes of Olam, Manu and co. I have no doubt with young Koula snapping at there heels it will see them sink or swim. Walker a utility now and provides alot of impact there he a smart footy player.

Yes form should determine
But as we know Des is loyal to his starting team

Agree, except that Brad doesn't usually make much ground rucking the ball out from his own end & regularly cops head high tackles for his efforts.
Agree re the high tackles.
Perhaps we should get more penalties coming out of our own end than we do?

I'm hoping that it's not some plan on the club's part - "take it up each time, Brad, we'll get more metres from penalties after you get your usual hit in the head."

I'm also hoping that it's not self-perpetuating........ - in other words, 'Brad starts to agree to carting it up yet again, and getting hit in the head - yet again - because he's been hit in head so often'. Yikes.

I recall a player being sent off last year after the ref thought he had pole-axed Parker; it turns out that Parker tripped and knocked himself out. Even his team mates were amazed. I hope he hasn't been knocked out so often that he's reverting to type?

And yes, I am well aware of the serious cumulative effects of repeated head trauma and football. No offense is meant by my levity above towards our brave BP and his efforts on the field. No footballers were harmed in the writing of this post. And I know, not one of us has the bravery to do what Brad does every weekend, knowing the pain that's waiting for him. We salute you, Sir Brad of Parker!

Walker’s best position will be at the Dolphins. It sounds like we have some gun outside backs coming through the ranks and as far as interchange forwards, we can do better.

If Walker leaves this club without a premiership ring, I’ll be filthy at him for being a constant headache for this club without premiership glory to show for it

good luck to Dylan I actually think the warriors are putting together a very competitive squad, watch out when they get to return home and get to play there.

Walker deserves to make the best for his family and I wish him all the best at the warriors in 2023.

Yep he's past his best Walker ( and def will be by seasons end ) and I think while he's still a handy player it's a no brainer to keep hold of some of these juniors in preference.

Wow, I thought he was a certainty for the Dolphins in 2023.

Good luck to him, its a shame we didn't get as much out of him as we could have, given how much time he's spent off the field.

Now he's got his future sorted he can concentrate on helping us win a premiership!

Walker is appreciative of his time at Manly:

“Coming to Manly was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’ve not only grown as a player, but as a person too. I know I will leave here as a better man,’’ Walker said.

“I’ve certainly had some tough times on and off the field, but the Club has always stood by me and for that, I will be forever grateful.

“Playing for Manly has been an honour and it is one I don’t take lightly.

“We came so close last season to making the Grand Final and I am determined to ensure that my final season at Manly is a great and successful one.”

I know its been dissected to death but I just find Walkers time at Manly pretty bizzare. Was recruited as one of the best centres in the game and seemed to barely play there. Throw in the injuries and the off field indiscretions and it was just pretty weird the whole way through.
I agree, it's like he never really settled in after several false starts.

Shame really.

Agree, especially given this is his 7th season at the club and for me personally, can’t remember him really having an impact.I’m surprised he’s lasted this long at Manly.Far better and more impactful players have had a shorter career at the club

Yup Barrett Screwed him and by the time Des was here, there wasn't really a road back

He's had some good moments with us but overall has always seemed more trouble than he's worth. Now, just when it looks like he might be turning into a valuable 14, he's off. Hope he has a good final year but can't say I'm too fussed at losing him.
