Walker thoughts 2022?

My honest opinion

Parker is so slow he reminds me of Joe Biden

Slow is a liability in both attack and defence

The faster game is no place for slow backs especially in the big games at the end of the season

We need more strike power and creativity in centres

We cannot rely for Tom to score our tries and set them up as well

Criticism of Parker is way to harsh Bozo, you seem to have forgotten all the tough lines that Parker ran of Foz, witch resulted in many crucial try's for us. We have plenty of speed to burn in other players, Parker is old school, and always makes those last ditch tackles that win you the tight games.

Koula left center for some needed speed, parker right center for defense. Then we have saab on one side and koula on the other.
I noticed that Koula is listed at 88kgs on the club website. Fast he may be, but unless he puts on 10kgs of muscle he will have a target painted on him in defense in the centres. A weight of 88 kgs is half back size.

it's an interesting position. I'm the first to admit that Parker and Harper did really well last year overall but at the same time was left lacking somewhat.
DW was looking super trim on the weekend and IMHO almost too trim to play 14. Now looks can be deceiving and perhaps the Maori strip was just super thinning on TV but I feel an issue coming up.

We are at the moment stacked for back row options even with the shoe injured. Could it be that to fit in Haumole, the shoe, Jake, lawman, Davey and Bully Dwalks may need to move back out wide?

Looking at our possible best pack and bench we have too much strike. in my eyes we look pretty good here.

Marty (DEFINITE)
Frog (DEFINITE)
Pasenka (DEFINITE)
Haumole (DEFINITE)
Shoe (DEFINITE)
Jake (DEFINITE)

Keppie (DEFINITE)
Aleo vera (DEFINITE)
Tee sips
bully (DEFINITE)
davey
Lawman

Now if you add Walker to the list of forwards it gets too busy.

Now finally the other reason DW goes back to the centers is that only last week he did a big interview about how he loving being in the pigs these days. nothing says ambush more than that me thinks.

Extremely reasonable argument but I see Walker as our best 14 by a country mile. If he improves our centres it's only marginal. The only other options for 14 are Schuster and Lawton but they both leave us a little light for outside backs cover. Walker covers all positions bar prop, which he covers via pushing Jake to prop. I can't think of another player that offers this kind of flexibility.

Geez mate, you've gone from pretending to constructively criticise Parker to straight out insulting him.

Walker hasnt played centre for what, 3 or 4 years now?

If he was our best centre option I reckon Des would he playing him there instead of off the bench at #14, don't you?

Parker has consistently proven himself to be an excellent defender & dummy line runner & capable of backing up & scoring tries.

Walker won a premiership playing centre at another club 8 years ago, won the centre of the year award 7 years ago, had 2 stints at 5/8 (one crap the other better), spent a lot of time off the field due to injuries (many self inflicted) & legal issues & finally appears to have found his role as an impact middle forward off the bench.

Our other centre options are as yet untested yet you're heralding their names everywhere as better options than Parker because you've seen photos of them in which they look like athletes & can run fast.

Again, if they were outr best options at centre I reckon Des would name them there.

It's the same as the way you've gone ga-ga over the signing of Segeyaro as our new saviour at hooker & thrown Croker under the bus because you dont think he's dynamic enough.

You harp on about perspective & club membership & loyalty etc but where's yours when it comes to our players?

"The police should have recognized Kite as being a Manly premiership winning player & known better but Parker & Croker suck because you like bad boys."

Unreal.

Anyway you look at it, we finally have good depth in the fwrds now. R1 for me, Marty, Crocker, Keppie, Haumole, Bully and Jake. Bench Pasaka, Davey, Lawman and Walker, with Sipley on an extended bench. Schuster and Alioi unavailable.

I noticed that Koula is listed at 88kgs on the club website.....A weight of 88 kgs is half back size.
On the Sea Eagles site, Koula is 180 cm & 88 kg (suspect he may have bulked beyond this during the off season). In comparison, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, according to the Cowboys site is 186 cm & 89 kg (maybe he now weighs more). He is already a very good player - fast, skilful & powerful. It will be interesting to see if Koula develops to at least the same standard. Hopefully, he does!

Walker .... won the centre of the year award 7 years ago,
This was in 2017 (5 years ago)

Thank you, I stand corrected on that point.
