Walker thoughts 2022?

I don't know what to do with walker .. yes he goes well when he comes on ..BUT

BUT .. I much prefer the way our team plays with Jake staying at lock and with 2 genuine boofhead props contesting the middle ..

This faster light weight game is a myth .. a MYTH I tells ya

This year it is a myth.
Last year, not so much.

The annual chopping and changing by the NRL make it near on impossible to build a roster.

Manly utility Dylan Walker played just 11 minutes of his team's 25-6 defeat of Canberra after limping off with what appeared to be a knee injury but coach Des Hasler later said he had a severe cork.

It’s a tough one this year with how the game is played. I still like Walker as the small forward coming on at the 20min mark.
He had a huge impact last year as you mentioned but I still feel he is very effective for us this year.
Considering the tough start to the year, extremely wet contractions and very bad cork he will be a major beneficiary for us coming off the bench.
Makes very valuable meters and adds variety in the middle 3rd.
I was completely off Walker 2 years ago but he has found a roll that works for us

Like what he brings to the table so to speak, but jeez.. he gets injured a lot. A severe cork, week off at most you would think.

Walker shows plenty entry of energy and makes good yards which really stood out in the first two rounds. But when he starts ball playing as first receiver it’s throw our attack off balance. Jake, Schuster DCE and Foran is more than enough ball players on the field at one time. Lawton should be used as a back up Hooker and not a back rower off the bench. We can’t afford both a Walker and Lawton on the bench.

Disagree, Walker has been a standout bench player for last year and this year. He's a spark and x factor in attack and he definitely doesn't throw it out of balance. But I do agree that we can't afford to hold two utilities on the bench. I've been annoyed about that since last year. The only possible option is that Lawton (preferably) or Crocker turn into an 80 minute hooker. This two man utility bench is working now against these lower sides but we will get exposed for it again against Penrith, Storm, Roosters.

agreed totally - Waljer is a great addition to our attack on all levels and yes we cannot keep two utilities on the bench.

Let Trent Robinson know he can move Victor Radley on...

Let Demetriou know he can move Cameron Murray on.

Let Cleary know he doesn’t need Isaiah Yeo...

The whole thing’s a myth. Ball playing and leg speed at 13 is just hearsay. Another big bopper is the way go 😂

Naming individual players with excellent running abilities .. does not prove a point .. other than that they are excellent players, .. in any type of game.

And each of those players have a pack that have power props through the middle ... and importantly don't make 5/6 positional changes to lock, 2nd row and prop to accommodate them.

And, none of those players truly excel until their middle get the opposition back peddling .. something we have found impossible to do against any quality team for 12 months ..

Oh wait .. we did last week with 4 props and Jake staying at lock.

I reckon the Raiders completion rate might have had something to do with the weekend’s improvement, as opposed to Walker’s injury.

It’s obvious that he comes on and causes headaches for the opposition...which is probably why the guy with 450+ games as first grade coach, thinks it’s a good idea.

But you’re entitled to your opinion.

Thank you for that condescension
.. and yes I have said often that walker goes well when he comes on .. but I don't believe the team does. Our attack appears enthused .. but our defense through the middle goes backwards.

And if you are suggesting that Des has never made a selection or tactical error .. I suggest you don't read too many of the threads ... some people may have posted opinions that disagree with you.

Apologies for the condescension but at least I stopped short of calling you a numb nut, which is more your style haha!

on a serious note though, I can agree that Des doesn’t always get it right, as is the case with most coaches.

Without wading into too much here, this is a mostly overlooked point.

The raiders were almost perfect in the first half, very few errors and almost 100% completion
2nd half was abysmal, not sure how it ended but it was close to 30 % at one point . We had a healty breeze and pretty much ran down hill.

did well considering the raiders had that first

Numbnut is naught but a Scottish term of endearment ..

And what most numbnuts fail to appreciate is that it is neither a permanent condition.. or a full time calling. To many it is just a passing malady..

One can be quiet sensible on one issue .. and a complete crayon eating numbnut on another ..

Numbnuttedness applies to where it is found .. numbnuttery knows no social or political boundaries.

I get all that, but unfortunately injury again has raised it's ugly head for Walker, and in Walkers case it's always more time on the side lines compared to most players.

Not against a quality team though. But I endorse your point.
