Perspective time ...

How much more are the Tigers going to offer him ?

The Tigers who have said that they will no longer pay overs for players

How much more ?

Take away the Tax

Take away the Great Northern beaches pizzerias

Take away the Great Manly culture Under Des the players second father

Compare that with the Stressful and under pressure Maguire who will make Dylan a leader of the losing tigers pack and accountable for every loss they have
Talk about Pressure
He will be coming home after every disappointing loss kicking his pet dog .

The moral of the story ...
The extra bit of Money is only good when it is better value

I hope Dylan stays as he is one of my favourite sons

Perhaps Walker wants to go to a club where he can play centre and not a middle forward off the bench?
I have heard rumours that he was a pretty good centre in the past.

I’d like to see him back in the centre’s primarily. We have Lawton for the 14 role and plenty of forwards. He can switch back when needed. Last years experience will have made him a better footballer. But 450k for a loose cannon that has a history of bans is steep.

This year he apparently was on $465k - can understand that a player would want the best deal possible, but should be flexible to allow settling for less to stay with a club that has been very loyal to him. At age 27, this is possibly his second last contract. It is difficult for most players to earn that sort of income beyond footie.

I could understand completely if he’s been offered circa $300k and another club offers $400k.

But surely if the differential isn’t great the loyalty / chance of winning a Premiership would come into play??

I am pretty certain he will stay - he owes Des big time for standing by him! Just think this is management trying to squeeze some more dollars from Manly. But Walker needs to say hey just where do I sign.

Yes I agree , he does really owe Des this time.

Maybe his next and last contract will be a bit different.

That article is a crock of ****. I distinctly remember Walker and Maguire being at odds which is why he was let go by South’s, and why South’s wanted Walker back as soon as Madge left.

While I think Walker showed his best form since joining Manly six seasons ago in the latter half of the 2021 season as a utility, his winning record is not flash in maroon and white. He had an excellent win-loss record in his early years at Souffs which influenced his recruitment to Manly. Stats do lie, but his club career record (below) does paint a picture. In short, in his three years with Souffs his winning stats were 68.75%, 70.83% and 54.55%. For Manly his record ranges from 33.3% to 60%...

He has been here during some very lean times. The club as a whole has been woeful for long stretches since he arrived. His winning percentage noticeably picked up when King Hasler returned to his throne. It will improve further if he commits to the club - the king will see to it.

Agreed. The stats can be misleading. But if he stays at Manly will it be because no other club has agreed to his price, or that he can't bear the thought of being too far away from his favourite pizza restaurant?

The former I suspect ...which means we would be paying him overs if we agreed to the price set by his manager.

I think a lot of players are now waiting to see how the Dolphins squad evolves. Walkers performances in 2021 have no doubt created some interest for him. If he can pick up a three year contract with the Dolphins from 2023 as their utility it could be a great result for him. I would imagine that he would then be offered a one year contract with us for 2022 if that happens. Yes there are a few ifs in there, but the NRL recruitment landscape has changed significantly after today.

I don't blame Dylan for looking around for a better deal, whether it's more dosh or maybe just a starting centre or 5/8 spot. He showed he can give great value to this developing Manly team but I'm sure we won't break the bank to retain him.
Hopefully it's settled quickly, one way or another. Who knows, he may re-sign for only one year so he can try his luck with the dolphins.

$300k would be lucky to cover his beer and pizza bills each year

Legal bills too!!

If Manly can fit him under the cap then great, if he finds another deal then no biggie either. He was good this yr and we know he is a high energy player that adds another dimension to our attack. But his off field issues have been very common and the club stood by him when others weren't offering him anything. You'd like to think loyalty would run both ways but not these days.

I don’t blame him looking around for a better deal…… the new PS5 is out and it’s not cheap and the PS5 games are $70+ each

Just sayin’
