Turbo tied up long term

You sound a bit like my accountant. He’s always saying things like your Net Tangible Assets are worryingly intangible, and your EBITDA is in the TOILET. Still, he did advise me to leave a goodwill, so I’ve left the bulk of my estate to the canteen under the Lyons Menzies stand so they can invest in a new pie warmer. Hopefully that will escape the attention of the salary cap auditor.
But have you offset that pie warmer against the new beer fridge to achieve a temperate environment of equilibrium we have all come to love at Brookvale Oval?

I would love to answer this but best I don't at this time.

In my opinion, the deal is a good deal for both sides.
So you can safely say the stalemate is the manager ‘holding the club to account for more money’ but can’t risk saying there’s a ‘games played’ clause?

That doesn’t really add up; the ‘best I don’t’ statement is the one you made.

Correct - for the most obvious of reasons.

and the common denominator with all of that is ,,,,,,,,,,?
Ill give you a hint ,has a peaches and cream complexion, sometimes goes by the name Mr Fluffy ,has a very sore anus from the sliver spoon that has been firmly implanted since birth ,surname begins with begins with P.
DM me for more hints
He is an odd looking fellow.

Obviously though, his wife married him for his good looks. The money never came into it.

Exactly , we cannot afford to lose either of those 2 to keep a questionable lame duck Turbo. We've already lost too many halfbacks because of DCE.
What halfbacks did we lose due to DCE?

Hynes is a long bow, he was going through some personal stuff and Barrett is an idiot. He had 2 years in Mackay before establishing himself as a bench player and eventually making he way to the Sharks to play 7.
Would have been great to keep but hardly left because of DCE.

Beyond that, Humphreys? Who aint that good.....or you talking Hastings?

What halfbacks we talking here?

Agree… Latu Fainu probs most obvious but not convinced he was ready when he was here (and not overly sold on him anyways), Humphreys is “meh”, Kaeo played some halves in lower grades so he is a potential candidate but also not ready (as he showed in the couple of games he played before heading to the snow), Cade Cust looked promising at times but not at Chez’s level…. Schuster? Surely not….

That is about all I have… and please forget that Hastings played for Manly at one point, I am still trying to…

Latu of course.

But he was more a 5/8 coming through and again, I wouldnt put the Fainu brothers leaving on DCE.

There have been 2 approaches this year, both of which did not progress very far.

To be be fair to the Penn family (and I'm one of their biggest critics) they considered each one however they didn't warrant any further consideration.

There is no direct "for sale" sign on the "front door" however, it is becoming apparent that if the right value was offered AND commercial terms regarding the settlement of that value were reached, there would be interest.

If I were a betting man, the Penn family would be best to wait until the next T.V rights deal, as the intangible & unrealised gain that would be generated from the revaluation of the "Manly brand" and [the] fact that they hold a valid participation and license agreement, would boost their "bottom line" as the expected increase in T.V revenue, would flow right into a will established and functional business model.

That bottom line and the resulting increase in the EBITDA (accepting that a % of the expected increase in the grant from the NRL is conditional on going to the players) would provide them (Penn family) with an uplift in the earnings multiple and they would seek to capitalise on that position by the increasing the overall sale price by also increasing the value of the intangibles and goodwill of the Club.

I hope this makes sense.

In short, if I were to advise them, I'd wait until the new T.V. deal, grab the extra cash from the NRL, bank it into my own bank account, boost the bottom line then sell the Club.
Great thanx mate……

Shoe back.

Problem is the leaking. I’m quite happy for there to be robust negotiations behind closed doors.

Every $50k saved = a better overall roster.

They will find the sweet spot. Stop fussing.

Shoe out.
Not that long ago Manly was doing well with recruitment in that players were signed that no-one even knew were in negotiations

Mestrov should tell all players we talk to that there’ll be no deal if anything is leaked by their manager. Player can then tell manager ‘don’t f this up’

Few years back story was Bennett had agreed to coach Chooks but dropped then when it was leaked. Good on him. And also Chooks stopped leaking. Time for Manly to make a stand and be taken seriusly

Going off reports, the opposite is true for Daley… it was the club that leaked negotiations…

Do we believe that was the only case where the club was the culprit and managers are responsible for everything else? I dunno…

I remember when Brooks was signed it came as a big surprise and I was like “Yes! FINALLY, Manly’s recruitment team have got their sh*t together!”

Ahhhh, that was THE day…

Just a reminder about his manager, Mr Sutton.

I am not inferring anything here:

Meanwhile:
Very good bloke who got caught up in a bad situation, which he didn't start and was righfully deemed "not guilty"
Known him from Cronulla over 30 years and though has a job to do, very straight forward bloke and after meeting every agent about, Sutto is the imo the most direct out there....but has a duty to his clients, so obviously will try get the best result for them....and himself....like the rest of us.

Still doesn’t make sense. If it’s about defamation, suggesting the manager is the cause of a stalemate is much more inflammatory than suggesting there might be some clauses entered into the contract.
Reading BTL I have taken it that AWDC does not want to get him/herself in sh*t with their employer by leaking sensitive contractual elements on a fan forum that could trigger an investigation (although Tooves would love you for it AWDC!)

So this Tom thing has taken a turn for the worse.

Imagine, if you will, our 2027 backline without Tom, Garrick, Talau, and Hoopa.

Saab, Koula, Fogarty, Walsh and Brooks will be there with Faulalo plus 1

With Seibs as coach we are on our way.

Certainly some conflicting parts to this , well so far relatively minor saga in that Turbo or his manager has not indicated that he is totally intent on leaving
Prepared to offer something back to the club some time ago but now willing to play a bit of hardball
Sure that he would be fully aware of his managers current negotiating positions irrespective whether he is overseas or home based
Can 't see any issue with some type of a ratcheting up clause reflective of any future cap increases but by the same token , also a quite good case for the club to have some or a specific number of games provision tied to a 3 year deal
Like most major sporting deals , still can not see any significant financial disadvantage in trying to agitate for a questionable additional 100 k or so when managers fees and general tax requirements come into the equation
And where is the marquee allowance being directed now with D C E exiting
Personally again would accord it to Koula ongoing
Jake may qualify for the veterans allowance if it still applies
Even going to S L may be further less appealing in that Turbo and his partner would need some reasonable level of accommodation , maybe some wealthy benefactors in club land over there , maybe not and still a bit of a financial hit if nothing forthcoming there
And of course , no guarantee that Turbo is going to have a relatively injury free run over the next 4 years and availability and form suffering as a result
