I reckon our best back 5 are Turbo, Garrick, Koula, Tippy Toes, and Saab.

I'm not sold on Saab...yet. Tuipulotu is the better option in 95% of the scenarios we put our wingers in. Safer hands, harder runner, better tackler.

If Saab keeps developing then he can absolutely cement the wing as his own but personally I think Turbo Garrick Parker Koula Tuipulotu is our best back five

Saab was a lot better than Tippy tonight. Tippys worst game tonight.

Hopefully he gets a little faster and minimizes his mistakes.

On form, it would be difficult to drop any of our back five at present.

However, I would like to suggest this back five when Turbo eventually returns:

1. Turbo
2. Saab
3. Garrick
4. Koula
5. Tuipulotu

Garrick is a very good footballer who continues to improve. He is one of the best wingers in the NRL and is now also a very capable fullback. It is likely he could also excel in the centres. He played a game as centre @ 3 years ago which was nothing special. However, his early games as fullback in past seasons weren't great either.

Pretty sure Garrick came to us having played mostly at centre so your idea is not such a big stretch

I believe Garrick was a centre when we first signed him from the dragons. I still think he has more involvement from the back at wing and tui slots into the centre role. But I also love tuis yardage Carries so I can see the appeal of keeping him at winger. I guess saab is probably the least multi faceted of the three in the sense that he’s a specialist winger but last night he was way stronger from the back. Looked fired up and confident. Nice to have a wealth of options with Parker, Burbo and Harper all vying for spots as depth.

Also ray vaega. Would love to see him in there at some stage.

I grew up in the inner west and the local club was Newtown

The Mediocre blue bags had slow and predictable mediocre backs like steve costa
They were ever so underwealming

Then one day I saw the light

The Mighty Maroon Manly came to Henson park and the high flying Sea eagles backs blew the blue bags away and thrashed them

And that day feathered friends I was born again

I was born again a new person and a Manly supporter for ever and ever Amen

God bless the Greatest club of all the Manly Sea eagles

What's Reuben's contract length, if he keeps his form up we won't be able to keep him if a club offers good money and the #1 jersey.
A concern but the thing in our favour is that fullback is currently one of the most stacked positions in the NRL.

Garrick will need to be looked after but not sure there will be a huge market for him as starting fullback on starting fullback money.

Tui "s background was primarily as a centre apparently and just on raw ability and indications , shouldn "t have too many issues transitioning there . Still a bit of a step up to regular N R L centre standard and may need just that little bit more polish but would seem to have the right credentials . With Harper who has definitely gone better in recent weeks and the reliable Parker still on board next season , naturally is no doubt going to create some interesting options with Turbo 's eventual return and Saab and Garrick at their best , i st choice wingers . Always puts in a wholehearted and strong effort and consistently one of Manly 's better performers this season after getting his opportunity and should be able to manage a centre role at a pinch

Realize that Rueben had a background as a junior rep centre but get the impression that he would be nowhere as effective there at N R L level as he is as a winger or one . Not sure if his last line of defence at full back is his best attribute as well but his safe and steady role back there under the high ball , ruck yardage and open field running , really good of course . Manly might be able to manage a bit more salary cap wise on wing value taking into account his goal kicking ability, and who knows even maybe a 3 rd party can kick in as he presents well in public. Could be the type of player who would consider taking slightly unders to stay for some stability and being with a competitive outfit . Then the priority to keep koula and personally would include Saab for the longer term . Just have to see how things pan out but always a chance that things can turn out for the better

Leave him on the wing, he brings the ball back and makes yards and is safe under high ball. Saab is getting better at bringing the ball back. If he baulks up a bit and doesn't lose his pace he'll make life easier for our forwards. We will have a decent back five.

I think people would quickly turn on Rueben when they see his defence at centre...definitely not a strength. He is a winger and a damn good one. I also think he has surpassed what Robertson did as a fill in 1 for Snake.
