I'd rather have the T bros who love the club so much that they won't play for another NRL club. Yes they are getting paid well and unfortunately through injury Turbo has been injury prone. How many players come out and say that they'll take a pay cut. They will take a good chunk of our cap next year but I'm sure they'll take pay cut in the up and coming contracts.

I'm pretty sure that backended contracts are now banned by the NRL.

I'll put it this way, I'd rather be paying big dollars for the T bros who love the club and want to play for the club and put in 100% every time they put the jersey on, than pay a pretender who has been inconsistent most of his time at Manly collecting a mil or more a year, who has held the club to ransom, is a media whore and doesn't give a **** about anyone but himself.

Nah mate. Can you imagine the uproar if we didn't sign the Trbojevic boys on long term deals when we did and they ended up somewhere else. If not, go and read the DCE mega thread. Plenty over there who were ecstatic when he back flipped who are now counting down the days until he walks away.

For the record, I was delighted when DCE back flipped.

Today I wish he didn't.

The brothers will never do to the club what DCE has. Every fan was elated when they re signed on long term deals. Next season their deals are slightly back ended which creates an illusion they were signed for way overs. The game sped up post covid which turned Jake into a tackling machine. He is a great defensive player who toughens up our soft middle and teams love playing us when he is out. Just ask the Tigers.

And lastly, the original poster is referring to attacks of a personal nature @Mark from Brisbane and @Ohgeez READ THE POST before jumping on the it's my opinion bandwagon. If your opinion is not an attack then there's no need to flood the thread with a wave of "this is my opinion and that's a FACT!"

The original poster was calling out posters who attack the brothers with drunken rants and abuse of a personal nature. Both yourself and Mark seemingly miss this point. We know you both think the brothers back ended deals are too much for next year. Plenty do. But that isn't what the thread is about though.

It's about calling out those who heap abuse on a Manly loving football family.

Jake's absence has been notable in terms of opposition points and line breaks. Say what you will about Jake but his defence is still top notch. We are leaking points now.

Jake still has a lot to offer. We just need to use him properly. Tom just needs some confidence back.

Both of them need to be on reduced contracts, they can't be pulling down superstar money when they aren't putting in superstar performances. But I hope they both stay at the club.

The only reason they're taking up so much of next season's cap is because Des did another one of his famous back-ended deals with them.

That they might not be worth what they're getting paid next season isn't their fault, it's the way their contracts were structured.

Think about 2021, when Turbo was carving it up - he might have only been getting paid $300k that season.

Where was this top notch defence when the Dogs put 42 on us a few weeks back? Jake was out there for the full 80 that day. If you include the games where he was knocked out in the first half along with the ones he's missed, we've conceded 18 points per game but for the rest where he's played most of the game we've conceded an average of 22. A lot of people use his defence as a reason he is still important to the side as an excuse for his completely non-existent contribution in attack, but even that is hardly helping us now either.

Someone on here posted the numbers surrounding his decline in recent years so I won't go further into it, but I struggle to fathom how an 80-minute starting lock can barely/never run the football, not offload, and not break the line or break tackles. Doesn't matter if he's getting paid $1.1 million or $1.1k because that doesn't cut it at this level.

To OP's point of course him and his brother are important figures at the club, will be a sad day when they retire without a premiership but that day is coming and their contracts are partly to blame for that. We all love them but we also love the club and want to see another premiership one day, and I feel keeping them around is only delaying that.

Ok so why did the club have to outlay so much for the Trbos if they would never play for another club against Manly??? Why didn’t they sign for the original offer before the Dogs came calling & the club had to up the offer? Just a question…. not having a go at the boys. All of us have an opinion…doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate what the Trbos mean to Manly or have done for the club & continue to do. I’ve stated in other threads that Tom needs a good long break at seasons end. Not play at any level, get his mind & body right for a fresh start in 2026. I still believe he can replicate his 2021 form without a doubt. I still think he’s our best FB! Jrbo needs time off also….he is the teams best motivator & leader! In 2019 when Jake and Tom were extended it was reported we got them both for 1.95 million. At the time that was considered unders. Even in 2021 after the game had sped up it was still considered unders. Unfortunately, this season the team has imploded under DCE and Seibold which has coincided with the final year of the brothers deal being back ended. This has created the illusion we paid way overs for them.

Also, fair market value used to dictate that a player had to be signed to contract that reflected their current value in the NRL landscape. This rule is now appears to be ambiguous depending on which club a player is signing with. But back in 2019, the rule was definitely in effect.

Hard to argue with the points raised. Last 3 weeks however has just felt a lot worse re ppg.

People are calling for both Jake and Tom to have a rest. May I suggest that the posters frothing at the mouth over the identity of another poster need a pretty big break themselves.
