2025 Ashes Tour

No hate for Saab at all. I just wondered why they picked him when there were better performed wingers this year??

Honestly, good luck to him and I hope he gets to showcase his speed without getting injured. But it would be interesting to hear the rationale behind his selection.

Edit: For the record, Saab isn't foreign to representative football. He was an Australian Schoolboys winger in 2018.
I think the selectors see Saab as a player who if he plays to his best on the end of a good backline, could be a cult figure in PNG before the end of the PMXIII game.

i wasn't directly throwing that comment at you holdenV8. just across the season there was so much negativity from so many on here. sure he has some issues but every player does. if we can use him properly hes good for 20+ tries per season and as a winger thats your main job.

Early in 2025 we actually were using his pace to advantage. When we were throwing it out wide early in sets, Saab was getting a lot of good ball in open space.

Then when everyone started going on about "earning the metres before throwing it out wide", it seemed to get in our heads and we got right away from that.

Saab needs a firing Tom for him to play at his best. We need to find a way to utilise his pace or he's not worth his place in the team. He's a bit of a conundrum because with his speed and height he should be the best winger in the comp yet he's not getting the ball to use his speed and he has a coating of Teflon on his hands.

I'm definitely going to be interested to see how Saab gels with Fogarty next year.

And I'd send him to the Swans or Giants for a few training sessions ... see if he can learn how to catch a high ball.....
