The Rumour that we hear everywhere

I don’t care if they offered him $1 or $2 million, but he asked for a release early 2024 and I’m not sure if they were in talks to extend beyond 2025 at that point,so DCE obviously had an issue with something. And if all this mess is based around DCE not getting an offer he was happy with, why are the Trbojevic’s involved?
Who says the Turbo's are involved? Oh that's right, that same rumour you choose to believe.

Except Read on Monday said DCE was signing for allegedly 500k and moving to the Roosters had nothing to do with $$. The others laughed.

He wanted to win a comp.
Rubbish. He wanted more money & was originally offered it by Roosters before Savala emerged. They smartly never lodged a contract & now get him at half price because his form has been so awful no other club wants to go near him.

Smart play by them but dumb by DCE who usually thinks he’s 1 step ahead of everybody. He’s shot himself in the foot & lost out on plenty of money by delaying his decision.

All I know from watching every game this year is the 3 players reportedly complaining (DCE, Tom & Jake) have been crap for the most part all season.
True, our 3 biggest salary cap players have for most part been far worse than last year.
Any club will struggle when their top 3 players are not firing (unless they are one of those clubs with 5 or 6 top 3 players!) @:D

Maybe it's as simple as Mestrov thinking Cherry-Evans was on the slide and didn't represent good value for money moving forward, and that was enough to get his nose out of joint.
Don't forget he's got form, remember he got the senior players offside by refusing to compromise on wages after they won the grand final. Then he backflipped on the Titans after he was promised the captaincy and given one of the biggest contracts in the history of league history. (At the time)
So, maybe it's as simple as a bad case of self entitlement, in which case it was never going to end well unless it was 100% on his terms.

That's what I tend to think has happened.

If DCE asked for an early release pre-2024 because he doesn't rate Seibold as a coach, why did he put effort in last year & why was the team harmony seemingly fine, resulting in us coming 7th...& more importantly, why were there no rumours about it back then? Why was DCE's form seemingly the same?

If DCE asked for another early release after Seibold was extended in Dec 2024, why did he wait until the end of March 2025 to announce it & why did he announce it the way he did? Was it because not long beforehand, Dylan Brown scored his huge new contract at Newcastle?

The slump in general team form as well as DCE's indicates to me that he spat the dummy over something earlier this season, yet played well in our first 3 games, & indeed our 4th game AFTER announcing he was leaving. Maybe DCE's not putting effort in because he doesn't like Seibold. If so, why was he dropped from SOO on his form?

Too many indicators to me suggests he's sought a huge final contract at Manly, Manly have said no, we can offer you $xxx & he's spat the dummy, gone on TV to have a stab at the club & now it's all falling down around his ears.

They’re the defensive efforts you get when you no longer want to be there and/or are busted.
As a supporter of the club would you really want players at the club that don’t go out and give the best version of themselves on game day?

The only time I can recall in recent times where players have had issues with the coach that have been displayed publicly was in 2021 at the Raiders, Joe Tapine’s wife had a dig at Ricky on social media, and the below comments were made from players:

Josh Papali'i:
Football is not my priority at the moment

Josh Hodgson:
I don't want to be captain anymore.

George Williams:
I want to go home

Kirsten Tapine:
Refs call means jak when coaches are 🗑

My point of this reference is the players got behind the coach despite their different views and two of those players have stood up as leaders and now have the club in a good space.

From that I’d suggest to you the Dylan Brown contract was paramount in all this , a bit like him saying to himself “ 13 million , for that twat, hold my beer”.

Ricky is on record saying those senior players came to him and said they weren’t happy with his methods of coaching(nothing to do with his X’s and O’s,but his demeanour and treatment of players etc)So Ricky took it on board and changed his ways and is a lot more “caring” to his players.Ricky was notorious for churning through halves that he coached,so it’s no coincidence that Fogarty’s upward trajectory has coincided with Ricky’s change in coaching

I agree, what was done there is a coach and players having different views and sitting down and working through them, there was no innuendo of the players going to Furner and wanting the coach sacked, as leaders and professional players they stood up and worked through it.

My take for what it's worth, goes a little something like this.

// DCE becomes disillusioned after one season under Seibs knowing another premiership is required to seal his legacy as a great halfback of his era.
// His management put feelers out to the Roosters who were going through a lean period by their lofty standards but have a young roster full of talent.
// Roosters confirm their interest if a release can be granted by Manly.
// DCE approaches the club but his request is denied.
// Manly has another inconsistent season in 2024 which culminates in senior players approaching management to voice their concerns about Seibs.
// Mestrov comes out in the media and says "Martian needs to start winning."
// Manly has a late season surge and qualify for the finals in seventh position.
// Roosters tell DCE they are keen on getting him for 2026.
// Mestrov backs Seibs, extending him despite no external interest.
// Manly start 2025 season well with everything going their way.
// It creates an illusion that we are a happy bunch with a "narrow focus."
// The internal problems bubble away as the power struggle continues between factions.
// DCE confirms with the Roosters he is coming.
// DCE comes out in the media about his plans.
// The public he said she said blame game begins.
// We all know the rest.

Compared to the Prima Donna’s we have.

Commentators were saying there was a lack of commitment to the 1%’s in the tigers game, and some of the tackling was lets say, a long way short of fully committed. Is not putting your shoulder into a tackle purposely playing badly? Probably just semantics, but either way, it is clear there is a disconnect between the coach and players, which usually only ends one way.
yeah I think there is a disconnect between the coach and players & players and other players
