The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

Thank god we have Cooper John's as cover. I know he still has a lot of work to do to improve his game but we have seen some nice glimpses of what his true potential will bring. He will only keep getting better so get ready to see him come up with some try assists over the next month. I hope he has been working on his kicking game though because it has been below par in his short time with us this far. He has a nice passing game though which is exactly what we need to get the ball to the right people.
This didnt age well !

One concern with Schuster is that so far his career more closely resembles Ted Goodwin’s, rather than Bob Fulton’s.

The other is that in their desperation to hang onto him, previous management staff have apparently put his (and his parasitic manager’s) interests ahead of the collective interest.*

*There are parallels there with the 2014/15 DCE situation, one of the club’s greatest ‘own goals’ of the 21st century.

Not being a smart arse but can someone elaborate on this....

Is this meaning which player manager has more of their players at our club therefore seemingly "controlling" our recruitment or something?
Yes someone please spell it all out for us slow learning pie eaters wtf is allegedly going on ?
Because whatever it is I cannot fathom that after such little time , all be it sprinkled with some great moments that we would be considering moving on or allowing to be moved a player that could potentially have a team built around him . He is only 21 , the media hyena’s and some on here need to give him some time and space .
Also I don’t think we need Flanno jnr we need outside backs , so unless he can play there it’s a no from me .
Just sayin

If Schuster gets shopped, do we again have a divided team with the collective Pasifika noses out of joint?

Or it it already not a happy family as it looks now?

Poker games and coffee dates my arse.
The player managers have had their grip on this club for too long. Hopefully Mestrov shows them who's boss and plays hard ball with them.

He can show all the potential in the world but I dont think a top team would fall at their knees for him like our management have. There’s obviously been motives behind the scenes because Schuster literally did nothing in 2022 to warrant his current role, let alone ****ing off Foz who is apparently on only $300K.

If he fails in this halves bid (his own fault for putting so much pressure on himself) than i’d be fine for his Manager to push him elsewhere. Just target him in defence and hope he doesnt pull a freakish pass for the 2-15 minute period where he looks on.

Maybe that will happen but only Manly will suffer as a result. Schuster will find his niche. He's too talented not to finally find his way. Always said, patience is one of the most important factors in any pursuit. The now. now perspective will never get you want you want in the long run. Its like gambling. Looking for instant gratification. The Walker issue was a perfect example. For a time many wanted him out. He got through his issues and became a valuable asset. Patience is the key. Today is only a memory tomorrow, and becomes a valueless experience unless you learn from it and use it patiently.

Problem is, is that we are paying $800K a year for nothing but potential at the moment. It leaves us short in other areas.

Is it 800k ?, just because that moron Carryannus says it doesnt meant its true 'Wombat.
Does anyone have a list of player mangers and thier players .Why all of a sudden are we taking on the likes of Woods and and Flanno

Sacking Tooves for Barrett must be up there too.
Oh, for sure. There have been a plethora of head-scratching decisions over this past decade. However, it was the DCE-Fozz debacle that left us with a limited and somewhat hobbled salary cap position.

And from Moses we get ... Seibold, Flanno Snr, Flanno Jnr., Woods, Cooper Johns, that Tigers kid ... who else?

This is make or break stuff for Mestrov.
From @Budgie yesterday....not great reading, is it...

I still dont get it ,what leverage does Moses have over the club that would make us consent to taking on the likes of Woods Johns and Flanno Jnr ,why not no thanks Mr Moses, like is DCE or some other high profile managed by this notorious player manager .?

I'd say the coach and assistant coach have a big say in it.....

Yeah, but it’s their futures on the line if they don’t get the team performing. I don’t believe the coaches would allow a manager to manipulate them into signing duds. I think it’s probably more a reflection of our cap situation with its restrictions, and them trying to fill some holes at budget basement prices.

Interesting from Kristie Fulton on Twitter:

There is no hole for Flanno to fill, unless Shu is Tigers bound.

Regardless of whether Schu is Tiger bound or not, he certainly ain’t playing, so yes there is a need.

We aren't keeping Shu on the books, and also not playing, for any length of time.

Something has to give.

Basically agree with this. But as a short term fix, having Flanno Jr come in as back-up and at bargain basement price is not the worst strategy.
