This is the point entirely. In my memory only exceptions have dominated early and been there at the end. I remember numerous seasons wher Nth Qld were utterly unbeatable early on, but crashed as usual.

Hasn't really been the case recently though

2007 and 8 us and Melbourne lead the field from start to finish and made the GFs

2010 Dragons were the class act from day 1 and last year Melbourne had a huge run early again
