The Life Of Brian (Kelly)

For all the potential that the kid is supposed to have, right now I actually think we'd be better off with Lewis Brown in the centres and Kelly at Blacktown.
We might even be better if Lewis went to Blacktown as well and throw anyone at centre

No doubt that Brian Kelly has been a liability in defense over this season. What I liked about today is that he actually lifted his defense in the second half and you could see his confidence grow as a result. He was playing an up and in style and at least he was making decisions rather than back pedaling and ultimately being outflanked. Young player learning and improving today. The boy took a step forward today.

Kelly was great today. Shut down RTS a couple of times with some good defensive reads and execution. Then there's the offload for Tom of course, which was a great bit of play. Took some hard runs as well.

Poor Mr Kelly but I seem to remember a lot of people Bagging one S Matai when he was a rookie leave the kid alone!!!!
Yeah, puts in a MVP and still those out to get him. Wasn't getting the proper support from his (substandard) winger in defence in the first half but blossomed in the 2nd with some great defence, a great break and excellent pass to the kid Tommy Turbo to turn things around for us as well as 11 runs for a 100 meters (which was far more than the kid Walker). No Kelly yesterday then there wouldn't have been any field goals.......

The baggers are probably the same ones who would go bananas if anyone even points out that the kid Turbo has smashed our momentum with a sledgehammer 3-4 times every week (just about every time he handles it's 50/50 there will be a turnover) for the last 2 months..........go figure.....

Whilst he has potential his inexperience has let him down, my biggest concern is his size. If we got him to bulk up - how much speed will he loose? At the moment he is getting smashed by bigger guys and being trampled and run over. He is only young but at the end of the day can he be turned into a version of Steve Matai?

If he loses any more speed he'll be as slow as me, he has some footwork, just no speed to go with it.
You would think that when you are recruiting a back the first thing you check out is how fast he is, he makes Albert Torrens look like a speedster.

I've seen plenty of potential in Kelly but take your point about our depth. Out of this year's salary cap we are missing Snake, Matai, Jorge, and Parker, that is going to test anyone's backline depth.

Be interested to hear how old Jade Anderson is, and when qualifies for NRL. He has size, speed, good head, can defend, and my daughter thinks he cute. But could he play centre?

Perfect pass for Turbo, who then kicked for Walks' try
