Remember the match-fixing story? The one involving three matches played in 2015 and 2016? The story that prompted controversial punter and former brothel owner Eddie Hayson to hold a remarkable media conference? It appears that story is still on going.

Firstly, I'm told police are still talking to players about their roles in those games.

In another interesting development, Hayson is now looking at his legal options to take action against anyone who said he did anything wrong. There had been talk Kieran Foran would be doing the same. Right now that process is on hold.

Foran has told me time and again how angry he was to have been linked to that story. He is incensed about stories saying he was out drinking and betting while he was in rehab. The talk is Hayson has been searching for defamation lawyers. The pair can't act together as the NRL has made it clear it doesn't want Foran associating with Hayson.

A few top lawyers have been sounded out, and now it remains to be seen if they take another step.
