Loobs

Living in the demountable.
Third party contracts for a pro sports league are a joke.

They should just make the cap the cap and how a team pays a player under it is their business with the player. The NRL could still only guarantee the portion paid by the club but at least then we know everyone is working under the same over-reaching cap amount. This current black box system is pathetic. I should be able to go to a site and see Manly's cap broken down and it should all add up. You can do it with virtually any pro sports league in the world that is capped based, but here they cry what? Oh, the players don't like it because it will create a chasm between them and the fans. No, it's not the 70's where you get a carton of durries and $50, play on Sunday and work the rest of the week. This is big business and we should be able to see through to where the money is spent.

Did not work for Manly, with the NRL setting a nominal contract value for Gifty. They did the same for Folau with the Eels.

The NRL have to set a nominal weighting for every attribute of a Player, then it would be equitable as it would be transparent.
+ points For level of Game ie. Rep for Major Nations, Rep for Emerging Nations, SOO/City/ Country (may need some jiggling to account for Kiwi Players etc who will never be subject to weighting),Finalist, GF and
-points for Continuous Years at Club from SG Ball through to FG,

The TPA's will always be an issue, but as some Players have found to their detriment, the TPA can walk and they have no recourse to get the monies promised.:wondering:

100% right HM.

So what would Foran's nominal value be ? Surely he would have to be valued at 750K in today's climate. And that's being conservative in my opinion.

Would love to know what the NRL valued Gift at and what we felt we could reasonably offer. It must have been a fair disparity for us to let him go.

A points system ?

Who's going to decide a players value ? Greensnot ? Hardly impartial. Dave Smith ? He thinks we're the Seagulls. What would he know about judging a players worth ? 10% of nothing.

The way this game is being run is a joke.

It's probably been explained already but can someone help me with the following. How much of Foran's and Choc's dollars are third party, given that the Eels are supposed to have strong third party support (not that that is technically allowed for a "club")? I guess that is confidential.
So if they're covered by, let's call it the Gifty rule (the only player I have ever heard it applied to), where Foran and Choc are current or potential (I know) rep players, their base salary (before third party?) should be no less than the NRL deemed amount, correct?
So if they are officially paid this base acceptable NRL rate, and the balance by third party money, the eels still have plenty in the cap, and so is it their "supporters" who have payed overs for these blokes, not the club?
Is this the way it works?

PS If it hurt you to read this please give a big thank you to the NRL (making simple things complex since 1997).

My mail is he is receiving 700-800k on parras books,

Can someone explain why there is a 140 page forum about Foran "whats best for my family is 1.2million", yet DCE "whats best for my family is 1.0 million" is relatively ignored?

AS a side note writing this; I find it hilarious that the useless Eels paid more for Foran than the Tits did for evans.

Because Foran has been playing "I'm stay, I'm going" for 3+ years.

It took Paul gallen to ask the question about whether foz and dce are going to have a red hot go for this year....for the FANS.

I mean foz lied and said he will give 110%....but it'd be nice if he could say that unprompted.....sometime over the last few weeks or so.

Foz saying how its hard to sign and then play another 26 weeks was telling.
His reply to Gal was just a cliche

The comment about him not talking to another Club till he decided to leave was an opening to Kent etc.

They ignored it  ie "What has changed at Manly for you to come to that decision? And when ?"

his performance suggests that he will go though the motions and thats it @
Those lobbed passes on Saturday were just touch footy stuff - not 110%

How do you all know he actually signed with the Eels 18 months ago? Is this a presumption or fact it happened when Arthur left us? (Pardon my ignorance)

I clearly remember Foz saying in a TV interview late last year that he definitely wanted to have his contract sorted before this season started. I thought he'd be true to his word - until the season began and nothing said - then he announced it after the Storm game. Yes he lied about the timing but apparently lied about the actual signing too?

He may not have signed last year, but he was as good as gone, the rumours were fierce that he was going to Parra, not long after we were knocked out, and the fact that Hayne going freed up more of their salary cap, not that that would have been an issue, as Sandow was on the nose at the end of last year and he would have been moved on to make way for Foran.

Who cares about Foz, it's all old news now. He is a liar and a fraud who attempts to pass himself off as a person of integrity. This thread needs to die and he needs to be sent down to NSW Cup for the remainder of the season. Even Littlejohn would perform better than that little twerp.

I asked two professionals who make their living from rating teams and players’ value and they both had Foran’s value between 550k and 600k. It remains to be seen how this buying market-share strategy will affect the Eels, as they have paid out $400,000 a season greater than Foran’s club, the Sea Eagles, and well over double what is generally considered his true worth to a salary cap.

Everyone agrees he is a great competitor and an asset to any club, but it is relative to value percentage into the cap. If Eels fans think that Foran is going to turn up next season and finally be the long-lost organiser that has been sadly missing since Sterlo and Brett Kenny then they are in for a disappointment. Foran will bring leadership and stability, but he is not an on-field general with a brilliant tactical kicking game.

He has said that it is not about the money but that he wanted his game to go to a new level, which is a nice slap in the face to his coach Geoff Toovey and specialist halves coach Andrew Johns.

Kieran, you have just completed the deal of the century and congratulations to you, but let’s get it right – it was all about the money.

Well the laugh's sure on the Eels then, isn't it!

And the lesson to be learnt out of all this is Foran's integrity is totally shot. I expected better of him but you live and learn....
