The real problem with Jake is that he gets absolutely no help from anyone other than Croker. He makes EVERY middle tackle, EVERY game. No wonder he's buggered when we get the ball (which we usually drop within three plays anyway…)

As for his pay packet, it's not his fault he gets paid what he's paid. Same goes for DCE and every other NRL player on an "inflated" contract. You only get what someone is willing to pay you. So blame the idiots in charge, not the players.

Jake his doing the role he has been given - and doing it bloody well...

the problem is the role not Jake imo...

i.e. if you are going to have the bloke making 40-60 tackles in the middle then his attack needs to be based around hit-ups and popping off-loads... you can not bust the bloke and then expect him to ball-play at first or second receiver without slowing down our 'offence'... it is ridiculous...
same with the 6-agains, Jake is not stupid so I am convinced that he has been instructed to give the 6-again away rather than allow fast PTBs....

There is an unspoken truth among the vast majority of Manly fans. Can we all agree that Jake T is not performing to his lofty pay packet?

Its all well and good to have defensive specialists in your team....but they usually command a much lower pay packet than Jake.

7 runs for 47m.....not the first time he has not clocked good meterage this season or many seasons before that. But if his name was oh....Marty Taupau....they would be calling for his head. I pity the bloke who will eventually need to tell Jake T to take a paycut. Tommy T is fast becoming less of a reason to sacrifice a spot for his brother.

He has lost what little pace he had.
Part of me feels bad not sticking up for Jurbo, but the other half says “ he causes too many ‘6 again’ sets”

I agree with those that want to admit it.
If that was Marty, he’d be getting whipped. If his brother wasn’t Tommy Turbo, he might not get such a pass around here.

50+ Per game sounds good but, what if you’re the okay causing the most tackle resets?

jakes game has gone backwards since his role to play first receiver. i feel that was a role born out of necessity and its killed his game. he has some variations and subtletess but not if you use them 3 times every set. he is easy to contain as our unpredictable game is so predictable in this aspect

we lose that game by another 20 if jake and frog dont shore up the middle

another game where after 20 minutes our starting front rowers had very few runs. This is becoming so obvious , and was happening back in the AFB and marty days so its all too common. winning ball as opposed to winning the scoreboard is what other teams take seriously. we do not .

Always laugh when the comments come about blaming a player for being overpaid. Yes there are instances where players get a contract and slack off. But that's not Jake. Jake tries his guts out each week.

Yeah his value right now is more like 600k rather than 900k.

But Blame the club for offering him the contract, blame Des's use of Jake, blame the change in the games rules.

The difference in levels of play between Yeo and Murray with Jake is light years. Yet, their salaries would be very similar.

Josh King at Melbourne can do similar things to Jake now days and he’d be on about a 5th of the wage.

Disagree mate….lying all over players, gave away his usual 6 again & lucky not to be binned! Sorry mate he was one of our worst last night! Definitely not worth the money he’s being paid. Not worth any more than 500k. I’d like to see him get dropped until he learns to stop putting players around him under constant pressure with his lying all over players.

The club are having to over pay Jake so that Trbo stays & is happy. People take the pi$$ out of DCE & Marty being overpaid yet think the sun shines out of the Trbojevics….why? If DCE & Marty are overpaid then the former two are definitely!!!

Jake and Froggy are identical players ATM.

Both all heart, ran their heart out last night. Tackled everything that moved in the middle.

The both have just only flaw which is speed. Jake just too slow with everything he does. Pass. Run. Find his stomach. Win the wrestle. Get a pin on arms carrying the ball. Get off player.

The more he trys. The more penaltys he gives.

Just think Froggy does the same defensive job yet compare their price.

Add Radley to that list who’s on way less than Jake. I know who I’d rather have as our lock. The way Jake is playing he’d struggle to get into any of the top 8 teams. I’m tired of hearing how many tackles he makes. There are other locks do the same amount of tackling & show so much more in offence!

Game 3 - 92 metres
Game 4 - 109 metres
Game 5 - 62 metres
Game 6 - 70 metres
Game 7 - 65 metres
Game 8 - 104 metres
Game 9 - 80 metres
Game 10 - 58 metres

Average: 80 metres per game (so not that bad actually).

Is it though? For 80 min game. Most forwards go over 100 playing half the minutes. Watmough use to average 150-200. He really needs to up his game. I wouldn't re sign him after his deal ends. We left a more talented brother in Gifty go. Maybe Jake's gone stale.

I like Jake.. but he has no speed or power. He's just on too much money in our cap. Unfortunately I think you could find similar players for alot less $$. De Luis for example... But he's a great bloke....

If he moved to prop , would you feel more satisfied with his play? Jake is heart and soul mate. I agree his speed is behind playing lock now, but at prop he can do what he does and excel. Make some metres, would love to see some offloads.
