In all honesty, if I was the coach, when Shoe returns from injury I would play Davey in the back row, move Shoe to lock where he can play as an extra 5/8 until he moves to the position next year when Foz leaves, and I would move Jake to the front row rotation.

He is an awesome defender and he never shirks it... total respect...

Is it just me though or is he slower than he used to be? Early on, he seemed to engage the line and even be creative at the line but it seems like he is so slow getting to the defensive line now that any impact from his ball-playing ability is negated...

Jake has been off his game the last 2 seasons, Jake on 2018 - 2019 form yes worth 800k +.

Jake 2020 - 2022 is performing like a 400K a season player, he tackles and passes.. No bending the opposition line, no offload and the big hits he had in him a like unicorns..

Based on this season he looks slow with the ball and passing the ball as the link man.

On form he doesn’t play origin..

I love Jake and i definitely think we are a worse side and club without him, but agree, $800k is too much.

All he needs to so is reintroduce his offload back into his repotoire like he used to have. Theres no use him being a battering ram, hes not big, strong or fast enough. If he could offer us some second phase play, combined with his defence he'd nearly justify the dollars again.

He is as slow as Clive Palmer on his way to a Weight Watchers meeting. The guy is no longer a factor in attack and has not been for some time. Defensive specialists are not on marquee money!

Tolman has more in attack than Jake T....much more. Jake T is Josh Jackson in a Manly jersey.....better technique and does more tackles....but basically a Jackson clone.....don't dare say he isn't.

Chased every play in defence - he will be the bloke I will be critical of, in fact i sometime wish he was our captain.

Love what he does defensively,but he is being paid big money and a guy who just tackles and who has no ball skills when a guy like Staggs rushes up and our attack dies because he has no plan B says he is not worth what he is being paid.
Cuts me to say it,but what he does can be done by a guy getting paid $200K a year,if he was not a local Jr we would be losing our **** if someone like Williamson in the past was getting paid that money.

There is an unspoken truth among the vast majority of Manly fans. Can we all agree that Jake T is not performing to his lofty pay packet?

Its all well and good to have defensive specialists in your team....but they usually command a much lower pay packet than Jake.

7 runs for 47m.....not the first time he has not clocked good meterage this season or many seasons before that. But if his name was oh....Marty Taupau....they would be calling for his head. I pity the bloke who will eventually need to tell Jake T to take a paycut. Tommy T is fast becoming less of a reason to sacrifice a spot for his brother.
