Wow - some you people are absolutely kidding. Jake to prop... Jake is over paid... oh myyyy. Jake is the rock we need to build our club on. He is the epitome of all effort and high quality every minute of every game. He is the Terry Randall of our time. Does anyone think that Randall in today's salary cap era would have been on a middle contract? He would have been paid as one of the highest earners at the club. Jake similarly while not in the Turbo stratosphere for earnings certainly earns every buck of what he is on. He does all the little things others don't, he does the mopping up others dont in defence. He is on his assignment - all game. He barely misses a tackle. He takes his hit ups and some. He provides the link at times and is the ball player taking pressure off DCE/Foran/Walker. We have enough high skill players... but those skill players even players like the Big O are not all effort every minute of every play. The Big O is an impact player and comes in and out of the game at times... Jake is always in the game. We can't have a team of just all skill. You need the Jurbo's... the Davey's to balance things out. Davey is great but Jurbo is Davey on steroids and rightly earns what he is earning. Also suggesting Jurbo move to prop... surely you jest. Jake does not have the bulk or foot speed at the line like a Blake to bend the line consistently. He is a bit like KDL when hitting up... better than KDL obviously but he is a bit of cannon fodder for a well set defensive line. Paying players is not just about how much skill they have... it is also about what qualities that player, what standards does that player bring to the field... on and off and to our club. If we had 13 Jake's on the field every week... gee you wouldn't go to far wrong. Tell me anyone else in our forward pack or indeed anyone else in our side that does all the 1% ers like Jake... answer nobody. Our club is very lucky to have him. Our club is very lucky to be able to build a culture around him and Turbo. Leave him just where he is.... value what he has and will continue to bring to us. He is so valuable to us in sooo many ways. If you asked the players which player would they pick first to be on the field every week next to them... I would guess some would say Turbo but most would say Jake. That says all you need to know.

If only he would stop putting the other forwards around him under constant pressure with his trademark holding down of players leading to 6 against & penalties. Not understanding what he thinks he’s achieving by doing it! For all his great tackling & ruck cleanups he’s also responsible for putting the team under pressure more than any other player. I just wish he would get that out of his game! As much as I love him he’s not anywhere near Isaiah Yeo, Victor Radley or Cam Murray. Definitely not worth his $900k plus salary.

Jake will only make origin if he plays front row, there are a few in front of him though, his game isn’t what it used to be.

Would like too see Jake play and hit as hard as he did in 2019, his game then was one of the premier forwards in the game.

Jake had a shoulder reconstruction at the end of 2019, to me he hasn't really looked the same since.

He's still a good player, effort unquestionable, but I also don't see him playing Origin this year.

I don't think it's even remotely controversial to say that he is not worth the rumoured $950k per season we are paying him for the next several years either. That kind of overspending impacts our ability to make other quality signings too.

Tom signed for $1.1m & Jake for $930k……pretty good money. The club paid Jake that amount so that Tom signs primarily. Tom worth the money, Jake is not.

You don’t have to be blind to see the number of set restarts Jake gives away each game , I’d suggest ( but don’t know ) it would be around 50% of them.

Clearly he’s hugely targeted.

But is it part of a plan “ we’ll slow the game down and yeah give away a few 6 agains but at least our defence will be set “.

Is this what is happening??

If not , why the **** isn’t Des changing his ways , or because he’s a member of “ the family “ does Des just have to accept it ???

To me they are a blight on the game and a ref who awards 6-8 of them to one side in one half really is only looking at transgressions from one side.

I’ve told you the story about a former top referee working on game day for the Drizzle with a direct feed to Bellamy and he’s telling them , how far they can go , and how to get around the particular referee.

We seem terribly behind the 8 ball on this but is it all Jakes fault ???

Jake does many superb one on one tackles, however it puts Jake and Manly at a disadvantage.

Manly need to start doing what Penrith, Roosters and Melbourne do.

Every tackle Jake does one or two Manly players also jump onto the tackle to slow the ruck down. Then peel off slowly one by one.

Jake will not be penalised as much then.

Not a hope it happens without some sort of imprimatur from Des. Des might not be on board with all of them but no way he hold down... too long unless Des wants that to happen sometimes.

Jakes whole game has changed since Des came back...for better or worst, I'm not sure. The guy is a machine, hardly scores a try anymore. Use to be good for a few a year (1 every 2 -3 games)now just 2 maybe a season.

Some look planned, but Jake is inexcusably sloppy in this department, the one he gave away last night on the fourth was terrible, and if des wanted that or Jake did it deliberately , they have lost the plot.

It’s a damn shame what’s happened to Jake, he is barely more than a less chiseled aiden tolman these days when we know he can offer so much more

Saw that last night. Was it DCE trying to pull him up by the back of the shirt? And - to my amazement - Jake fought against it and kept on flopping until the six again was signalled.

I love Jake. He's the heart and soul of the Manly pack. But man, he needs to fix this part of his game toot sweet.

I get that it is a ploy at times to assist the defence, but most of the time time when Jake does it, it is not called for and just puts manly under more pressure.

Jake is a textbook tackler
When he hits they drop
And instead of 3-4 in the tackle.....it's just Jake !!

So though his defence is rock solid there's zero reward....

There is an unspoken truth among the vast majority of Manly fans. Can we all agree that Jake T is not performing to his lofty pay packet?

Its all well and good to have defensive specialists in your team....but they usually command a much lower pay packet than Jake.

7 runs for 47m.....not the first time he has not clocked good meterage this season or many seasons before that. But if his name was oh....Marty Taupau....they would be calling for his head. I pity the bloke who will eventually need to tell Jake T to take a paycut. Tommy T is fast becoming less of a reason to sacrifice a spot for his brother.
