Rarely happens to me but, in this case, sentiment rules. I’ve always liked him and have always been really dirty on the way we let him go after the big shiny announcement of the re-signing of the super three.
It just didn’t feel very Manly.
So I want him back.
And he’s good.

Jesse was the best young centre we had and should have kept.

He can easily commute from the Central Coast to Narra as he left the Sharks to be close to family up there.

Very true - if you watch his tries its always from odd occasions of getting early ball and doing it all himself, beating him opposite number and then a couple more.
Also has a great carry in general with power to make post contact metres and win quick play balls.

What position would we offer him at 800k??

He is a full back for that price and a good one, but we have Tommy. Could only be to play 5/8 and to cover full back.

Not sure he is the right option for that money, especially if Crocker, cust or elgey come good on 300k leaving more to spend on wingers, centres?

Call me crazy, unsentimental...or whatever else.

But to me, Ramien at $400k a season makes more sense than Gutho at $700k.

Different positions yes, but when we need to balance the cap, that $250k to $300k can make a massive difference.

Got to love musical chairs time of the season!!

Even then you ask someone from Narrabeen to go to Manly and they'll tell you to piss off - too far!

I'm sorry fellow ST's, but if you take sentiment out of the equation ie Gutho being a local junior, I think his dodgy knees are too big a risk to be blowing $750k/season on a non-specialist 5/8 (if he really is interested in coming back). He is yet to play a full season on NRL due to injuries. I hope 100% the guy is over the injuries for his own career, but history has shown when your knees are bad at a young age, you'll have issues your whole career. Look at Eric Grothe - missed a lot of time because of bad knees from a similar age.

Also Koroisau is linked to the Tigers so if he was to get released early and tigers pickup majority of the bill we could possibly keep Walker. But with all baggage Walker has I can't see the club keeping him but I could be wrong..

Ramien wants out of the knights and he would be a good replacement for Walker and cheaper

Much will probably depend on Walker 's situation post trail situation and with back line considerations . Really can not see Gutho being regarded as a centre proposition for Manly and, particularly at or near his asking price , not at one . Croker did so well at 6 against the Raiders but who knows what is going on behind the scenes . Ramien has developed into a i st class block busting centre , and would be a good pick up for most clubs , Suli and Parker are going well but again would seem that Walker "s future predicament will have the main bearing on back line recruiting or retention matters .

That would make my year.

Fingers crossed on Gutho. His effort alone would be incredible for our young squad.
