Manly's Daly Cherry-Evans slams backflip speculation over Gold Coast deal

Manly halfback Daly Cherry-Evans has slammed speculation that he's considering pulling out of his move to rival NRL club Gold Coast in 2016.
The halfback refused to take questions from the media at the club's training ground on Monday morning, instead opting to make a statement stressing his frustration at recent media coverage and quashing talk of a backflip.
"To put everything to bed, there has been no changes to my current contract situation," Cherry-Evans said.
"I went through that process seven weeks ago and there is absolutely nothing to report.

"I understand speculation will remain until round 13 but there is nothing to report in changes to my contract.
"But the way I was treated over the weekend by some media outlets was very extremely disappointing."
"I understand as a professional athlete media have a right to me, but I don't believe they have a right to my family's privacy and the way that they were treated over the weekend was extremely disappointing.
"With that being said I hope this puts it to bed and everyone can move on."

The slammed his treatment... did not deny the speculation...
If he wants to stay, it is his decision.
He should not be derided for it by anyone.
Situations change, and EVERYONE in their lifetime will backflip on something after committing to it.

They're doing it so that they don't have to foot 1.2mil on the cap. Per player you can have something like 600k tpa. The more tpa the more cap we have left nd the better the roster we can keep.
I think they are basing that off the smh article (last page) didn't actually say I'm going 2 GC just said no change in contract situation

I have seen a lot of 'there is no change to my contract situation' and i'm surprised he has managed not to slip in a 'yet' in error.
The media have bagged the **** out of him for the way he portrays himself of TV, now DCE knows he hasn't got a chance for a fox gig and has spat the dummy. All DCE wants is his head on TV or his name in the paper. The only one who ****ed up the situation is DCE himself.

In the five stages of grief we're stuck in the denial phase. This has never been anything more than a dumb bit of manoeuvring to ensure Myles gets a contract. Has probably blown up in the media more than they anticipated. No matter what word games people play, DCE has now put it to bed. End of story.
Probably no-one does, including Foran, but do you really think that means there couldn't be any media speculation?
