The Daly Cherrygraph

Gee, that's a tough ask of any one.

I'm not a fan, he is not a generational player in my eyes at all, but asking the sacked captain to attend, particularly when Qld turned things around after he was dropped.

I think just let this one be....
Yeah, nothing article if you ask me.
Mentions the other Qld players in attendance yet no DCE - two bench forwards that were dropped and Ponga.
Could it be he was invited and respectfully declined? But that wouldn't make a story.
Could be lots of reasons.
No one from Qld quoted saying he was invited or not.

Pointing out the NSW players that attended, well none of them got dropped, they were injured.

Gotta love journos and how they colour a story.

Was at a pre game event with Turbo and Jurbo. Poor guys stuck on a boat with 200 league nuts. Got a chance to speak to them both and I directly asked Jake about cherry . I asked where’s he’s going to next year and Jake said “honestly I don’t know, probably the roosters but we don’t know”. He looked awkwardly at Tom and it was really clear he’s off Cherry in a big way.
I made sure to let him know how much it means to manly fans that he’d never play against us. Could tell he truly appreciated that. A true gentlemen.

Tom less talkative and interested but fair enough. I had a few beers by that stage

The look to Tom was probably "how do we get rid of this bloke without being rude?"

Another thing to consider in the DCE absence from SOO celebrations is age. Those other players that attended are probably going to be in the mix again at some stage and want to show ‘buy in’ to their coach. DCE will be 37 next year and his sacking is the end of the line in a long Origin career. That chapter is closed and the optics don’t matter anymore. It’s a nothing story.

I agree it’s a nothing story, however it does indicate that he has or is rapidly losing favour with the media
My thinking is that DCE is going 9 and this article is from News Ltd so it's simply the usual practice of media outlets attempting to discredit the other.

Agree it’s a nothing story but I think for his persona it would have been good to turn up to support his old team mates, but I’d say he’s chosen a weekend away with his family on the bye weekend and can’t say I blame him.

If I was DCE I'd stay at Manly until retirement.

History and Stats for DCE.

Could ( big could ) have potentially made 400 games for the same club.

May still make 400 games overall , around 350 something with us and another 50 with the Rorters but that’s a very big “ MAY”.
