The Daly Cherrygraph

I’ve pretended like this day would never come, I think it hits a little harder for me because majority of my conscious memories as a manly supporter, dce has been our halfback, not calling a lot of you old on here but.. a lot of the players you guys love and have memories with that you talk about is probably close to my experience with dce, if you can’t tell, by my profile picture and has been my phone homescreen for a LONG time that I’m not good with moving on from my favourite players leaving the club.
That's ok, you can call me what I am @:D

As a teacher, one thing you get very good at very quickly is smelling bullsh1t. Kids will look you right in the eye and lie to your face.

There wasn't one iota of truth in what he just said.

The only way he doesn't play next year is if a big media contract gets put in front of him.

As my mate George says, "It's not a lie, if you believe it." 🙄

Honestly… so be it. No surprises. He’s always been about himself — this just confirms it. Fact is, no one wanted him when he first came through. His manager flogged him around and it was Manly — our club — that gave him his shot. We backed him. He repaid us by winning the comp in 2011… then refused to honour his deal, demanded an upgrade, and the club folded.

That move cost us Glenn Stewart — heart and soul of the club — forced him to Souths, and fractured the playing group. That side had a dynasty written all over it, and DCE’s ego blew it apart.

Then came the 10-year deal — richest in the game. Since then? Cap issues, mediocrity, and a revolving door of players. If he genuinely cared, he’d take a haircut now — free up some cash, help us push for one last premiership. That’s what leaders do. Someone should introduce him to Tom Brady — the bloke took pay cuts his whole career to build a dynasty. Seven rings later, still a god.

Instead, he’ll bleed us dry and walk. Typical Cane Toad.

And now he announces it after Round 3 — how the hell does that help Manly this year? It doesn’t. Just throws a cloud over the season. The captain’s mentally checked out three weeks in — what message does that send to the squad? Young blokes wondering if they’re playing for this year or rebuilding already. Should’ve waited till October — but nah, classic DCE.

Honestly… wouldn’t surprise me if the crowd turns on him — like Dylan Brown copping it from the Parra fans. Deserves every boo if it happens.

Time to move on. Back Joey Walsh, back Otoni Large — they’re the future. Hungry, proud to wear the jersey. No one’s bigger than the club.

Up the Sea Eagles.
This will be pinned as the quality of first post we expect from new members

Clearly you are in and around the club

I knew I found our post match presser strange, normally if anyone was to ask on his future with the club or footy he would just shut it down pretty quickly or give a quick stock standard answer but he took a bit longer than usual to think about his answer and it looked like to me seibs was unsure what dce was going to say aswell.

There was a lame attempt to suggest it was to help the club ‘move on and plan’ but who was buying that after the tone of ‘no contract until 360 tonight’ and further contradictions about knowing the decision since December. It was all spin and then Gus had the audacity to suggest his announcement was professional 😂

I get it though…he is under contract with Manly and has to play a straight bat but it’s so transparent that the relationship is fractured.
Yes, I required an extra reflux pill after Gould.

One thing I don’t understand with this guy is that if he is going to Easts does he want to go out as Sam Walkers understudy playing NSW Cup

Agree with the second part… career at Nine guaranteed…

Having listened to Daly I reckon his decision comes down to 2 things:
1. He did not feel wanted by Manly
2. He did not want to dodge/deal with the same questions for the rest of the season whilst it played out

Now he does not have to deal with people he does not respect anymore and he can secure the best deal behind closed doors at his own pace…
It’s hook, line and sinker with you isn’t it?

Very hard to disagree with any of that. The only caveat is if he was trying to keep it quiet but it got out - which he actually did say on 100% footy. He said he thought it would be much later in the year. Who knows if that’s the truth

Manly had the prime position to sign him due to salary cap allowances - they did not and Chez has obviously been left disgruntled (why else would he come out and say “anywhere but Manly”?)

Only ones “embarrassing themselves” today is the management coming out with a desperate “offer” when the decision is long-since made…

What does seem to be the case is a breakdown of the relationship - if it had been intact surely there was a way to manage him playing on and us retaining humphreys - for example. Will be interesting to see the reception he gets on Sunday.

As a fellow teacher I agree 100%.

My job is to investigate all the complicated cases where the kids will lie through their teeth to avoid getting into trouble, and the stench of BS was practically visibly emanating from him.

It's like management taking Des Hasler for granted all over again and insulting him to leave.

And guess who was responsible back then - Penn !!

Jason Saab posting subtle shade on his Instagram stories, seems to be aimed at the fans who are upset with this news??.. at least that’s how I’m interpreting it.

I smell BS from DCE. This is all pre planned , decision was made.

Giraffe neck Is only loyal to money.

He did it to us before publicly and he does it again.

No matter what management antics were , he owes the club respect they showed him for such a lucrative deal they gave gim.

He should have not made such a big call publicly and alone.

I have no respect for him anymore.

He has derailed out season nice and early.

Thankyou for the memories, please piss off.

Money hungry, unloyal and disrespectful act by DCE..

Why are we surprised.

The important question

Is season 2025 now ****ed as a result of this ****show ??

Or is it “ business as usual “
Would you galvanise behind a captain that acts like this.

Success is built on more than professionalism. I’m not sure wether the players will be able to even muster 100% professionalism after seeing what their captain thinks of the club and the season at hand . It doesn’t get muddy more self serving than what he did tonight. He can rationalise it however he wants. Sentiment and his standing as captain should have stopped him from doing it like this

Again, I got no problem with him wishing to leave, I got a big problem with how he wished to do so
