I honestly think his captaincy should be stripped , why should he get to save face at the expense of the club. I don’t know how he could look his team mates in the eye after that charade. It’s not if you leave, it’s how you choose to leave. Daly doesn’t get that distinction.
Why is origin so important. How can that be a driving force. He will soon work out that legacy and reputation matter, not shrewdness and squeezing everything you can.

Well I'm more confused about this than before I watched that interview.
So there's no animosity between him and the Club
There's been no other offers made to him from other clubs.
It comes down to him just not being sure if he will play on next year but he still wants to at the moment.
So even though there's no animosity, he doesn't know if he'll retire and he still loves playing footy, he just knows he doesn't want to play for Manly.
The GLARING un asked question was - why don't you want to play at Manly. Why did no one ask that question or why did DCE not offer up a reason?
I almost threw up my dinner when Gould did his suck up. Gould is absolutely interested (if they can wangle the cap).
I don't know how this doesn't derail the season or at the very least, the next I don't know how many games. It will be very interesting to see the crowd reaction at Brookie on Sunday when he runs on. I honestly don't know what the reaction will be.

We are all entitled to our own opinions and for me, this is probably my worst nightmare. Literally the closest to the sky falling in at Manly as possible. I’ve absolutely loved watching DCE run around for us. They’ve been special years with so many incredible memories that I thought I’d look back on fondly…now they’ll always been tainted memories. If anyone was going to be a one club player, you’d expect it to be the 36 year old that’s played 15 seasons here. That he will run around in another club’s colours is just plain wrong.
He is always been the money man. Always looking after himself. It’s crazy he announced that he wont play at Manly after we offered him a contract next year, but also says he want to play on.

Yeah 10 years @ $1.7mil / year. What could go wrong!!!
I certainly don’t think it’ll be as warm it might have otherwise been. I won’t be cheering him. I won’t boo him either.
If Walsh and Large aren't ready that's actually a pretty good idea.

They did and he lied. If you piece the puzzle together, it’s clear as crystal that there’s been a breakdown in the relationship with Manly. Weirdler asked him if there was and he said no…if there wasn’t animosity, he’d leave the door open for Manly to sign him if he chooses to play on. What other reason than conflict would there be, not to leave that door open?

I don't wish to go into a slanging match via the forum, however, if we are to believe that he "made the decision to play on in December", did he say when in December he communicated that to the Club?
It certainly was not in the first two weeks, perhaps closer to the end of the third week.
If you factorin the Christmas period and holidays taken in the New Year by his manager and a majority of the parties involved in this negotiation (save for his manager) were back on board mid-Jan 2025 when the Club refined their thoughts and initial proposal.
Again, what's done is done but some of what I'm reading online and from messages I'm receiving outside of this forum, it appears that history is being rewritten by the victor, in this case, that's DCE, given he's the only person who is concerned about getting the best for himself (as he should).
Giving him a public dressing down like that is one way to guarantee that this circus will blow up our whole season.
Maybe we have signed Galvin or similar???

Double speak and weasel words were throughout that interview - I have been an advocate for DCE, but maybe those who spoke ill of him for years were correct
He is absolutely angling for media (as is his right) but he will be more marketable as a Roosters player for final years.
If I cared I would disect all the pieces on FOX and nine - together the picture was painted.
Sad to see him go, glad he pulled pin early - let's see if he does help Manly bring the next guy through. And first round next season we know it will be Manly v him.... Ola warm that shoulder up buddy

Sorry, that's what I meant. He said no, there wasn't an issue so where was the follow up question - so why do you want to leave? That just seemed to be the next logical question.
