The Daly Cherrygraph

Fletch and (more importantly) Dylan Edwards saying Chez is worth $1M still…

I cannot believe that the contract is not signed - maybe the reports really are pure BS (because we could not be that dumb to argue over an extra year when we are gonna get him for a song)

For those of you that are excited at the prospect of DCE moving on and/or of the persuasion that we shouldn’t fight too hard to keep him, tune in to the Eels and watch what happens when a club loses an experienced leader. Rebuilds excite fans that are dissatisfied with the status quo, but moving on experienced heads and/or sacking coaches rarely (if ever) leads to overnight success.

Be careful what you wish for. The Eels are good reminder of that.
I understand you are referring to Gutho and I do think they are missing his effort and leadership, but they are also missing Moses who plays the same position as DCE and is just as, if not more important to their team

One big home win against the Raiders isn’t changing my opinion on whether we should keep DCE or not. A deeper finals run that doesn’t end in us getting flogged, or even just an impressive win away from Brookvale might change my tune but as it stands, if we aren’t genuinely competing for a premiership then we’d be better served rebuilding than trying to win one with a roster that isn’t going to get it done

Fair go… that semi against the rorters had a couple of special circumstances that put us behind the 8-ball for 79min…

We are a competitive side right now and going back to a “rebuild phase” when we have the nucleus of a very good side just seems (to avoid being insulting) ‘wasteful’…

Bar for about 40min of football last year, we finish top 4 and 2 out of 3 games this year we have been VERY good (one without Turbo)…

I do not get the “let’s rebuild” narrative…

You’re entitled to your opinion so I say this respectfully but what perplexes me about it, is what do you think happens when he goes? The alternative is not genuinely competing for a premiership, it’s probably genuinely competing for the spoon.

I know he won’t play forever and eventually he’ll retire but why would we elect to show our equal best player the door because of his age? Age is a concern when it impacts performance but it’s not right now…I’m genuinely struggling to see the logic in ‘we aren’t winning premierships so let’s try something else’. If Penrith didn’t have Cleary and Roosters and Melbourne didn’t have Cronk, but signed a few decent forwards and had a rookie 7, do you really think they win those comps…you start with DCE and you do your best everywhere else, not the other way around.

We could go on all day on this.
Let's just say, Dylan Brown has won lotto.😅

They will have to pay Ponga 2mill, just for him to stay and that is taking unders when u look at performance on the field.
Could not agree more… I reckon Ponga rang Nick the Greek 5min after hearing about Brown’s deal…

I think Zero return is a bit harsh Mick. He’s turned up a hell of a lot for us. Maybe not performed to our standard in every game but has taken the brunt of the whip and has been loyal for the money. Don’t forget Des turned into a mumbler and Trent amounted to wasted time while so called Fainu turned hunter while Dylan Walker could not keep his hands to himself all while DCE was running around for US in nearly every game. No one mentions that.
Fainu was going to be the next big thing **** we let Api go for him and rightfully so at the time Fainu was much better. Guy could do it all and since then we have no proper 9

He's been playing as well as any half, and only Adam Reynolds has been better this week, I'd say. Eels without gutho are woeful. Meanwhile he's doing well at dragons and clearly leads them around.

Just on the Long serving allowance. The 10 year cap bonus.
it isnt exclusive to DCE and could be applied to Jakey also.

Chasing that clause isnt a a carrot and doesn't make DCE an extra opportunity

Had a decent game though,

I think some may be misinterpreting that 400k valuation.

My read on that is the NRL wouldn't register him on anything less than that.

He can still get whatever he can get on the open market and I'd expect us to be paying 600-800k

In the open Market that is Down on Quality halves
DCE's Value would be Up and Over 800k
Brooks is on $650 and DCE is no Brooks and you can Bank on that .

The Price of Loyalty works both ways
Give DCE What he is worth and Keep him a one Club Player
