Agreed but it's not just DCE. The Trbojevics are another lead weight around our neck. Tom the half a year wonder, Jake the 6 again plodder and Ben , well seriously, someone tell me how he's an NRL starting edge forward.

Very true. I was going to mention them but did not want to push too hard. Again I like the guys as they bleed Manly and have played some cracking games but will we see a GF with them??? I don’t mean to sound selfish but I think some changes need to be made for the better of the club moving forward. I also think our coach is not hard enough. I could be wrong and I certainly don’t mean to come across as a know all but it’s what I am feeling so far. I’m crossing my fingers again this year.

I have both Weekes and Humphries in my Supercoach team ... so I watch them intently ...

Last week ... as a fullback in a winning side ... Weekes scored 21 points ... 34 points the week before ... these are abysmal figures for a fullback ... ... he will have his highlight moments ... but well off the pace of other fullbacks ... may do better in the halves.

Last week Humprey's as a goal kicking halfback scored 67 points and 55 the week before ... very ordinary figures for a halfback ... good player but has demonstrated the creativity of a turnip ... will also have his highlight moments
Yet both teams are 2 from 2. Teams aren't made of superstars. But team players

Not really a secret now is it. Sounds like his manager trying to fleece Manly for more money.
Not liking how this has been played out in the media. We all know DCE wants to stay a one club man but this shows his management are desperate to milk Manly for every cent. At this stage of his career I would have thought winning a comp at Manly as captain would be priority over the last pay cheque.
Surely this doesn’t turn into a bidding war.
A zebra doesn't change their stripes. Idc what anyone says, the dollar comes first before anything footy related with chez

Disappointed DCE has not come out and said anything of him wanting to play on and shutting down the media scrutiny of his next deal and bringing unnecessary distractions to the team and the club, as club captain and playing as long as he has I expected team first from him.

In rugby league, everyone starts with a self-first mindset. Success depends on hitting KPI’s and being influential to the team in winning games.

It’s a sink-or-swim environment where individual performance comes first.

The mindset as a player,
  • Self 1st
  • Team 2nd
  • Club 3rd

But as people grow into leadership, the shift (or at least, the necessary shift) begins:

They start prioritising the team, realising their success is now tied to how well they develop, support, and empower other players.

The mindset changes to;
  • Team 1st
  • Self 2nd
  • Club 3rd

At more senior leadership levels, this concept changes to club first mindset.

The focus shifts to strategy, profitability, and long-term growth. Not just for the business, but for the people within it.

Ends with;
  • Club 1st
  • Team 2nd
  • Self 3rd

Problem is our on-field senior leader has always had, and still has, that first mindset. A terrible culture ensues

I am leaning that way with you @Pete W, thought he had grown into a leader at the club, the more he remains silent on this subject says a lot about his leadership and if he is to stay I am of the view Turbo should be club captain next season.

The fact that he recently announced that he wants to continue to play Origin this year further illustrates his priorities.

Great club captains like Jamie Lyon, Cam Smith etc retired from rep duties for the last couple of seasons of their careers so they could dedicate their ageing bodies and energies into the clubs they played for. Try telling DCE that team and club success can be more fulfilling than climbing higher in the individual record books

No use having a captain who sits on the sideline most of the year.

They really are the obvious… Chez could play a Burton-type 6 role (not as much line running tho) and let Walker focus on playing into the line in the attacking zone and doing the short kicking game… imagine Chez with Connor Watson, Walker, Teddy and Crichton around him… plus Manu back and those young gun forwards…

hope not but I could see Nick the Greek having a crack…
DCE's best chance of winning another comp is with the Roosters.....
