All DCE cared about was not ruining his new clubs 2025 season. He didn't give a damn about the impact of what he did and how he did it would have on Manly's 2025 season. He will probably have played >350 games for the club but he will never be considered a legend of the club. I never knew an NRL player that was able to work from home before but that's what DCE's last season with Manly has been like ..... the cxnt has mailed it in and has just been taking the piss.

When Cherry got dropped from Origin and said he was going to concentrate on being a good father for the rest of the year, I didn't think he meant exclusively. He's taken a gap year to work on himself so he'll be fresh for the Roosters next year. Only problem is we're still paying him and he's still taking the field every week.

True. But if they do go cold and pull out (apologies to my wife, by the way), he'll just spin it as it being his own decision - after long and careful thought - to retire. They will just end up doing with him what they have done with Townsend - give him a few goes then park him in reserve grade.

I think Luke Brooks would be most pissed off , since he came to Manly to win a premiership and to prove his doubters wrong. He most likely won't win a premiership now unless a big 4 club signs him, but thats highly unlikely.

Brooks came to Manly to play semi-final footy after 11 long years of either coming 9th, last or somewhere in between.

A lot of the media talk fests are all discussing the Chooks pulling out of the DCE signing, so it’s growing wings.

I’d suggest Uncle Nick will honour it some how so you’ll probably find him on their staff next year , but he might actually have to do something for it which wouldn’t have been in the original plan.

I don’t understand all this criticism of DCE now appearing regularly in this thread. What were you people watching for the last 6-7 years ? This isn’t a 2025 thing. It’s been obvious for a long time that he doesn’t have the ability to lead us to a premiership. Which in itself is ok, other than we were stupid enough to sign him up as THE highest paid player in the game which hamstrung our ability to put enough talent around him to make up for his shortcomings. Result of which was 10 years of mediocrity and DCE banking plenty of cash for going through the motions.

Should have cut him loose 2 years ago when we had the chance, but now the time has finally come I can’t wait.
