The Daly Cherrygraph

A contract needs both parties to agree. Besides which no-one even knows if DCE will play on, he's now suggested he'd like to ... but last game he was assisted off the field in agony! a little thing like agony can certainly quickly become a factor in one's thinking. (speaking of which, what bet the Raiders give him what for if they can lay their hands on him!)
It was a back spasm… not great but he has missed 20 games of football in 10 years and is still as active on the field as ever…

Reckon he will be fine and hope he tears the raiders a new one…

(I moved this to DCE thread as I don’t want to continue to fill JH thread with Chez discussion…)

Freudian slip?

Not really a secret now is it. Sounds like his manager trying to fleece Manly for more money.
Not liking how this has been played out in the media. We all know DCE wants to stay a one club man but this shows his management are desperate to milk Manly for every cent. At this stage of his career I would have thought winning a comp at Manly as captain would be priority over the last pay cheque.
Surely this doesn’t turn into a bidding war.

Since the Trbojevics will be here for many years to come, a near-retiring DCE wanting one final pay day could also be an opportunity to fast-track the inevitable.

"Many years" is debatable. Tom turns 29 this year and Jake turns 31. It is not unreasonable to suggest that given their age and physicality of their playing that one or both will be retired within 3 years.

Yes most likely a slight exaggeration, however they'll both be offered 2 year extensions to their current deal. So 2029, unless medically retired, will realistically be the first year Manly line up without them

They really are the obvious… Chez could play a Burton-type 6 role (not as much line running tho) and let Walker focus on playing into the line in the attacking zone and doing the short kicking game… imagine Chez with Connor Watson, Walker, Teddy and Crichton around him… plus Manu back and those young gun forwards…

hope not but I could see Nick the Greek having a crack…

It was always going to be the chooks, they have an unbelievable roster, but it’s their halves that remain the question mark, it’s going to be very interesting.

If you were Daly what would you do?

Its a one club legacy or a genuine shot at a second premiership, the opportunity to achieve a premiership with 2 different clubs, who knows maybe even back to back, just like Cronk, anyone game enough to say he’ll go? I think theres every chance.

I agree that there is a real chance if Manly play hard ball and it is the chooks that show interest…

They have a cracking roster and they offer after-football benefits…

He's leeched somewhere between $11 -$13 million over the last decade for what , zero return. Worst decade in the club's history. Not all his fault admittedly because we were stupid enough to pay it. Now we want to throw more money at him for another 2 years while we let guys like Humphreys and Fainu walk. Fu*k me dead this club has lost it's direction so far that I doubt we'll ever get back to where we used to be.

It would not worry me if he went to another club. I love the guy but I would love Manly to win another premiership too. I don’t think we will win another premiership with DCE in the side. Looking forward to new line up. More than happy to be wrong of course. To win another premiership with DCE would be better but I don’t feel it happening especially knowing he is at the end of his time and also knowing how good Melbourne and a few other clubs are playing. We are still somewhat unreliable. Time for new blood ????

I’d like Chez to stay. Have never been one to blame him for the mess in 2015 and believe if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t have been bottom 8-ish at times, but spoon contenders.
I hope he chooses Manly but for a reasonable price. Would love for him to accept it.
An eagle or a chook? Obviously the sensible choice is an eagle 🦅

I think Zero return is a bit harsh Mick. He’s turned up a hell of a lot for us. Maybe not performed to our standard in every game but has taken the brunt of the whip and has been loyal for the money. Don’t forget Des turned into a mumbler and Trent amounted to wasted time while so called Fainu turned hunter while Dylan Walker could not keep his hands to himself all while DCE was running around for US in nearly every game. No one mentions that.

I want him to stay but he should do it on the reduced coin. The guy is not a pauper. He should see the reduced pay packet as an investment into the side's chances of winning a premiership.

If the roosters poach him I hope be bleeds them dry.

I agree, he’s made a lot of money & should follow in the footsteps of Ben Hunt who obviously wanted a grand final

How are those Fainu’s going? Latu is what? Fourth option at the worst team in the comp?

Agreed but it's not just DCE. The Trbojevics are another lead weight around our neck. Tom the half a year wonder, Jake the 6 again plodder and Ben , well seriously, someone tell me how he's an NRL starting edge forward.
