The Daly Cherrygraph

But if your Man of the Match unbalances the team and wants a culture built around him rather than being a true senior player nurturing the likes of the young Turbos and Gutho then, for mine, he truly can bugger off. It's a team sport and observations of body language over all the years he's been with us, tell me he's not a team player. The player he's most often compared to as an example of building a team around is J. Thurston. Yet, if you watch Thurston in a game, he is a true leader and others really want to play for him. And still ... no premiership.
All that glitters ...

Have a listen to the actual manly players that have been interviewed about the issue. They all have said they really hope he stays. That tells me what they think about him.

He was on the fox sports last night . He was pressed by by numerous people on whether he'll stay and all he could say is Manly have until rd 13 and "anything could happen".

He has not categorically said he is no chance at staying.

I'm now quite optimistic that he'll to a triple pike and stay.

Saw the same interview and I got the completely opposite impression. I think he is going and just paying lip service to Manly's attempt to retain him.

I find it interesting that some people want DCE gone as they only want people here that are passionate and will bleed for Manly, then in the same post say they want Toovey gone as well.

Toovey is passionate, determined, and professional. But this is a results game, and we've lost 15 of our last 19 games or something at all levels.

Now, before you roll out injuries as an excuse, ill show you The Panthers, who still are dealing with plenty, yet continue to win.

Would you agree that Panthers have better depth than us ??

So we have 159 pages of Silvertailers arguing with each other about a player's honour, a player's character, team infighting, what Manly management did or didn't do right, on and on, and most of which is totally valid.

But what does this thread look like if the player transfer period was from late October this year? Exactly.

We are bashing ourselves up because of a bizarre rule that has our employee being contractually encumbered to the opposition a year before they leave us.😱

And the big winners? Player's managers. This must be heaven for them. It might be time for them to have their own reality tv show.:snooze:

Spoke to Greg Bird at the pub last night and asked him about if he was coming to manly and about DCE. He laughed and said if DCE stays with manly he will sign with them also. I really think this will happen with a lot of the players manly are trying to sign. Throw everything at him I say. Pay more than the titans are offering if we have to. I really hope management don't stuff this up. No one will sign with manly with carney as our half and we will have to pay overs for everyone. Seemed like Bird knew something about the DCE situation but wouldn't tell me. I'm still holding hope.

The Rd13 rule has really killed the game this this year. Its funny how its never been an issue until the NRL Titans looked to cop a raw deal.

The media know this so have run with it all year, which has resulted in a ripple effect across the player market.

I want DCE To backflip also to force the NRL to scrap the rule, and be done with.

^ If we'd snatched a win against the Panthers (as we should have at Brookvale) they'd be on the same points as us. They're not travelling that well either, and I'd argue injuries have plenty to do with that as well.
Anyway, I saw the Cherry segment on Fox and didn't really know what to make of it. I think he's already made the move mentally but is still leaving the door open for a late change of heart. He also made the point that he's fully entitled to change his mind under the NRL rules and that if he does, he won't have done anything wrong. But really, he was non-commital.
Weirdly enough, I didn't think he came across as badly as other posters have said. I thought he looked relaxed and performed well with the other Fox panellists. One way or the other, I hope he's happy with the decision he makes.

Lol off topic but someone with no life keeps trolling me with troll ratings, my heart can't take much more of it

Lol on topic i just want him to stay and anyone who hates Toovey isn't really a manly fan deep down, he embodies our club

Small, tough, versatile with a huge chunk of class

You have a nice face so I think we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm talking about the body language I see on the field. And I'm really not convinced he has matured enough to communicate plays rather than relying on his individual brilliance. Have a good day young Simon!

How has round 13 killed the game this year?

The only club that has had issues with this is Manly due to the inept club mgt.

I don't see Saints trying to make Merrin backflip

I don't see Roosters trying to make Master chef backflip

I don't see South's trying to make Luke backflip

Only Manly seem to be playing this backflip game as we completely screwed up the negotiations with many of our players including DCE and Foran in the first place.

The media are interpreting last nights interview as "him leaving the door open". He knows exactly what he's doing and is choosing his words carefully.

Usually the story leaks out due to the number of "people in the know" at both football clubs or just the players talking. However this time, the almost complete lack of information is odd.

Therefore, all we can go on is what's been said publicly. He said Manly have 2 weeks to make an offer. However, is he prepared to accept an offer or is he just blowing smoke to screw the club?

The Gold Coast aren't talking but they must be concerned that he hasn't publicly said "I won't accept any offer from Manly". Maybe he's told them this privately and that's why the Titans are quiet?

Like many of us I'm just about fed up with it all. Stay or go, there's positives & minus for both outcomes. I was of the opinion that the best situation for Manly was for him to stay. Sadly now, I'm not so sure.

No, i think we have one of the (if not the) best rosters in the entire NRL. I totally disagree with people about our forwards. I think they are great, just execute appropriately.

Also guys, piss DCE off. He doesnt want to be here? Bye bye. The team i listed in this thread looks amazing.

Take the player / player manager power away. No DCE, you DONT have two more weeks, because we have your replacement already type of thing.

Now start winning some games for a change. Aren't you sick of losing16 out of your last 20 starts? If not, enjoy reserve grade.

I applaud Souths coach in benching Luke.

Is there a link anywhere to the Cherry interview? I must admit I was watching the Swannies.
Was a fantastic game, and great to watch a team all pulling in the same direction. A bloke like DCE wouldnt play for the Swans, because they have a policy for guys like him.

I don't disagree that we have a good roster
But when you are comparing manly to the panthers they loose Soward they bring in Peachy
Idris they get Blake or Jennings
Segeyayo they get Koroisau
we dont seem to have that kind of depth so when we get injuries the players we bring don't compliment that hence they get the win and we try hard but don't get the win thats how i see it

No we can't because on Friday he said we have matched the offer yet on Saturday he said we haven't made an offer so his public statements are lies.
