The Book of Albert

That would have to come with a degree of self-awareness.

A man who thinks it’s ok to stick his digits up another man’s anus (unless he is a GP or a surgeon) is probably deficient in that department.
...not that there's anything wrong with that...

...well, actually, NO there IS something definitely wrong with that on a rugby league field...

Well try not to be demoralised too much when you see Garrick, Taufua, Parker , Gosiewski, Waddell tomorrow arvo.
All good players, at their best.
Jorge unfortunately needs another 'rest', his timing was out and it cost us big time.
Hard for wingers though, with our defence system, it really relies on someone counting numbers and the guys we've had at the back are not experienced or adept at this crucial calculation.
Just pop Hoppa Jnr into Jorge's wing spot and he can test out his knees with those suicide runs off our own line, I'm sure NAS and co will go gentle with him!
(I'm really looking forward to Young Hoppa's debut, so pleased it should be with Manly not anyone else. FYI I was a big Hoppa Snr fan, as a league player, not so much as a politial role model)

All the talk is about Hoppa and the shoe and that’s fair enough.
I can see the very young argument there ( not that I agree with it at all).

The selections that worry me more are Cust getting dropped a couple of weeks ago and the biggest of them all , Guaca being dropped for Waddell and JetSki- if there’s a reason for those I’d love to know what? Surely the coaching staff watch those two play.
Guaca getting dropped for them
Is an absolute joke and has to cast doubts on other selection decisions.

Cust was dropped as Walker was returning. Pure and simple. Walker is a better player than Cust at 6 or centre at this point in their careers.
Cust has done nothing the last 2 weeks, but he is not Robinson Crusoe.

What is at debate is whether Cust at 6 and Walker at centre replacing Suli or Scorpio would be overall better for the team?

Why would Brandon Smith go to a cluster **** like us?
He will have half the comp chasing him. And he’s going to go to a team that is spiraling down the table ?
That is the other huge downside of all this rubbish playing out in full view of the public and the dismal slow football we are playing. Why would a top player want to come here ?I can’t think of one.

The Dogs were knocked back by every single player for three years until they grossly overpaid for Cotric after Des left with the club in tatters.

We plays dogs style football folks.
I think the first person who has to go is Hasler, it was a mistake to bring him back, the frustration at seeing the same players maintain their positions after failing week in and week out is too much, given our position on the ladder and our rate of descent why haven't some of these kids been elevated? Time for a clean out from the top down

Unless he picks up his act with selections Eagleron, you could well be right.

No one was saying this when we made the finals last year... yet one bad season with a mid-season rule change and key injuries/suspensions and some people here want Des gone.

Roosters finished 15th in 2016 with Robinson. Good thing they didn't sack the coach... as with a few changes and better luck they won two comps in a row after that.

As for Des, he was the only one that would take on the job. The club was getting dragged through the mud every week in the media, we were still paying a salary cap penalty, we narrowly avoided the spoon with a much kinder injury toll, and Barrett (now hailed as the Dogs' saviour) had quit the club citing lack of facilities.

Michael Maguire was negotiating with us, but said no and joined Wests (who are hardly the epitome of a powerhouse club). Cleary joined the Panthers. Not sure if there were any other inspiring options, yet alone ones that would agree to the job. Cartwright? Henry?

No one is happy that we have missed the finals again, and Des sure isn't perfect, but calling for him to be sacked is very misguided, in my opinion.

And Penn will pay him out after just extending him?

That's the funniest thing i've heard this decade.

Des came to Manly with assurance that he would get them in the finals. However you are quite right given he signed until 2024 as coach. However if he doesn't get serious results within the next year or two, it wouldn't surprise. But certainly not this year
