Article in the paper today. Not sure if there's any truth in it but apparently Taupau being shopped to Broncos to ease cap pressure. Broncos need to replace Lodge and Taupau would be perfect for them. I can actually see this happening and don't be surprised to see us make a play for Vaughan/Woods. AND don't cry foul at me, I'm just saying what I can possibly see playing out after the reports today. Id personally take Vaughan as a Taupau replacement it it frees up 400k a year which it would. Cap management is a juggling act and sometimes good players need to be let go. Thoughts???

I thought Marty may have ended up at cronulla.

I wouldn't mind Vaughan on the cheap (he would be looking for redemption and something to prove)
Although Woods was a manly fan as a kid... I feel like he should have retired years ago as he doesn't offer much on the field imo!

Interesting one... if indeed we could spend that extra money on a specialist fullback, who is more than happy (and capable) of playing wing, then absolutely. Garrick, Walker, and an untried Koula, will never solve our issues when Tom doesn't play - which will happen quite often when you consider rep footy, as well as injuries. The broncos have niu, and isaako, who would both do great under Des I think. Rabbits had Allan, and Johnston, Warriors now DWZ, Rorters and Panthers, etc, all have quality FB backup. Definitely our achilles heel - we seem to have developed quite good depth everywhere else

Agree regarding Woods, he is a big no from me but Vaughan surely would have learnt his lesson this time and would definitely get him on the cheap.

We should throw in Suli as a package. I 100% agree we need better than Garrick as a backup fullback. I actually think Isaako could blossom under Des, he certainly has some X factor about him.

At the beginning of the year I would have been happy if Marty found a long-term deal elsewhere and we released him from his final year (or two).

Now, I would still release him (if he can secure a good 3 year deal elsewhere you can't stand in his way), but I would not be happy. He has been great for us since Round 4. And I would rather not sign Walker if it meant keeping Marty

I wouldn't be touching Vaughn - he is not the type we need around the young guys. Maybe Woods for low money as he will help Paseka, Keppie, Toff and some of the other young guys continue to develop.

Our front row depth has really been tested this year but I agree, a genuine backup fullback should be the priority

I understand the financial reasons but still think it would be a shame to let him go.

Despite last night's result I still feel we're building nicely towards our next premiership & think Marty is not only playing his part in it but deserves to be there to experience the achievement.

Plenty of others to be moved on before Marty. Jetski, Boyle, Siro all off contract. Suli should be moved on, he is on 650k! Walker is also on 600k.

Would keep Marty hands down before any of them. Our forward platform is one of the reasons the backs are doing so well. We need to keep a strong front row rotation. Sippley and Keppie are not there yet. If we did move him on, we need a like for like, and who else is out there off contract that we can get on the cheap that is as good as marty

Vaughan is poison no matter how cheap he would be.

I doubt our sponsors would be happy with us signing him and we would have the press all over us.

If true, I feel for Marty, he has been a good servant to the club since he arrived.
I‘d hate to see Chumley or Vaughn in our side, it’s looking backwards for mine, both are past their best best and wouldn’t improve our side or offer much looking to the future.

We have Aloia, Marty, Keppie, Paseka, Sippers, then there’s Saddler and possibly Jake as an option. I don’t see why we would want another prop especially the two mentioned and I hope we don’t resign Boyle, Jetski or Sirro as possible options.
Last night was like a window to the past, we need to look forward, with regard to a couple of quality new signings, not picking up other clubs rubbish.

If Marty finds a good deal, then thanks for your service, sad to see you go, but there’s no need to rush into the market for a front rower, particularly the 2 mentioned above.

Marty is a good prop.
$800k is overs though.

Kennedy from the Broncos is one I wouldn't mind getting here on the cheap.

Massive frame, just needs more fitness.
