You’re correct, looks like ‘additional investment’.

V’landys confirmed NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet tabled “extra investment” — reported to be $8 million — to secure the grand final — but stressed that the agreement is only in place for 2022.

The ARLC boss stated that beyond that the NRL could adopt an approach similar to the NFL Super Bowl.
I don't know, but it just doesn't look good to me that they gave it to NSW if their bid was still under Qld's. It looks to me that the NRL never had any real intention to give it to Qld and have just used them as porns. Now, whether that is actually true or not, the optics are not great. Could this create a real problem or split between QRL and NRL?

Completely agree. The whole ‘Super Bowl’ concept is stupid. As if Perth or Darwin are going to be bidding higher than NSW or QLD for the Grand Final. It will always remain in either Sydney or Brisbane.

I doubt that QLD were used as pawns in this, I think logistically it would have been too hard to all of a sudden switch from Sydney to Brisbane for a game to be played in around six weeks time, there would have been people who would have booked hotels and flights etc, and it would have been unfair to go to Brisbane, however, with enough notice, Brisbane would be a real possibility for next year, the NRL doesn't owe NSW a game in Sydney every year, unless they stick to their original agreement

The GF was never going to Qld in 2022.

It is all posturing to get the govt to put the 250 mill for Manly, Sharks and Tigers back into the budget.
The threat of moving it next year and beyond is real.

Watch this space. Go V'landys!!

In all honesty, I’d just be happy to see Penrith & Ayres get sweet fark all like us. Still don’t know how they justify 300M for Penrith and no one else. Wouldn’t it just be fairer to split the 300M between the 4 Clubs and give them $75M each?

300m plus the 200/250m to buy the trotting track

How about they move the current Penrith stadium to Brookie. It's light years ahead of ours, yet they get the cash first??

People who are hoping for shiny new stadiums under a labor government are living in La La land.
What kind of infrastructure gets done under that mob? Absolutely zilch.

Best bet would be for PVL to come to a compromise with Perrotet and agree to temporarily put the stadium funding on hold but for it to happen later down the track.

Can’t really argue with the government on the fact that they need to give money to flood victims, etc.

I want brookie upgraded just as much as anyone else, but a bit of common sense has to come into play here.

So then Penrith should not get funding also? Isn't that common sense or does it only apply to certain clubs? Why Penrith & not the others.......either they all get some funding or they all don't. $300m would go a long way to helping MORE flood victims wouldn't it?

No they should not get funding either. All or none for now.

Had to do some work out at Moore park today and went via the new stadium, wow yes even with the crazy money spent on it, it looks a very impressive stadium.

And the most hurtful thing is you can even now smell finals footy just around the corner and we are not part of it.

I have such fond memories of winning games in September out here and making big finals over those glory years 2004-2014.

I don't care what it takes, who needs to be sacked or moved on, no one is bigger than the club, we need to be back playing finals footy in 2023, I hate knowing September is close and our season is done.

Mate, at this stage, we are losing :
  • Marty - biggest metre maker
  • Foz - easily our best half
  • Walker - easily our most spark
  • Davey - pretty solid workhorse
  • Fainu - good riddance
  • Taufua, Boyle and others (depth)

And have acquired :
+ Tuilagi - epitome of a plod

And nothing else is changing (same dump coach, same dump owners, and Mestrov who doesn't appear to step forward when required).

Then we have apparently 3 of the 7 urging for early releases (which we all know Des the Dinosaur hands out like hot cakes with no return).

The outlook is not so great. We'll be very close to a wooden spoon next season. If Penn is correct and they demand pride jerseys worn again, that's one round we are down already, on top of all the other crap.

No ground upgrade is happening.

Basket case.

Until a year ago, I worked around there all the time. The thing that always struck me was the advantage the Roosters have and the new facilities at the Stadium will make it even better.
As it was, they had a nice symbiotic relationship with the Swans, great training facilities, state of the art rehab facilities, the best doctors and physiologists working in the area, all in an area where young blokes like to live.
It's not just Uncle Nick and the Giant Sombrero (a band name?), it's a very appealing club.

Sadly I totally agree it's just my wishful thinking on my part.

I know we are in a whole world of mess if we get close to the 8 next year we have had a good season.

I just hate like most on here where we as a club right now.

So true

They have such a advantage in these areas and it's one reason why they are so successful.

Such a huge gap between the big and small Sydney clubs and it's only going to get bigger.
