Suburban Upgrades (ie us) torpedoed

NRL chasing large stadiums was people copying AFL. But rugby league was never like AFL cross country track meets and should never had sought big stadiums except for grand final and Origins. NRL was always more like NBA and NHL where it was best watched in a raucous full house no more than 20K. Every Brookie attendee knows that.

The NBA and NHL are two of the biggest money leagues in world sport. None of the NBA arenas can hold more than 21K and the NBA season average is around 17K per game. The NHL crowd average is also 17K. All the NHL arenas are under 20K, except Montreal Canadiens who have 21K.

The NRL's biggest problem is the existence of AFL. It makes it easy for dumb, lazy and ill thought out comparisons and media stories. The NRL should ignore what the AFL is doing and be more like NBA and NHL by focusing on filling 20K seaters with some decent facilities and corporate boxes and making tv revenue. Far better than putting 12K in a huge stadium and having no buzz at the ground, no buzz to sell the corporate boxes and no buzz watching on tv.

Yes, that was Tod Greenturds agenda, to have all the Sydney teams playing out of three or four stadiums, thankfully he got the arSe and PVL firmly believes in the tribalism of suburban grounds

When somebody is THE STATE PREMIER they are the leader of a team of Ministers.
They are not the sole decision maker.
Even the Liberal/National Coalition have meetings where they vote on issues.
Not all of them are made on the Golf Course, with their wealthy business mates.

We do have a State election in March 2023, where, hopefully the good side of politics will be returned to Government in a landslide.
Hopefully, Chris Minns will be our next STATE PREMIER, leading a team of decent humans.
Then we'll have Ministers that will produce policies that represent all of the people of NSW.
We need all of the suburban Rugby League venues to receive the funding to upgrade them to the standard that everybody deserves, not just PENRITH, which is in a very marginal electorate.
Did I hear someone say PORK BARRELLING?
Vote Labor!!!
Go Manly!!!!!!!

Hmmm knock down a perfectly fine Penrith stadium that has grandstands on both sides for $300 mill + potentially another 200 mill

Or a total of $250 mill to upgrade dilapidated grounds at Brooky, Leichhardt and Cronulla.

Knocked down perfectly good Parra stadium and SFS because they said SFS didn't meet safety standards, so how does the SCG pass the standards I wonder, Panthers stadium looks great to me.

Taking my Manly hat off there is not really a case for so much investment in a stadium for the beaches when we could do with a heap of other infrastructure (all of which will not help)

Don’t worry. We won’t get any other infrastructure either.

When someone makes an incorrect statement "There's no good or bad side of politics "from Peter C.
They need to be held to account.
Hopefully, someone may learn something too.
That is your opinion, mate, are you implying that because someone doesn't vote along the lines you do makes him stupid?.

Labor wouldn't know where the Northern Beaches are, so why would you think they would do anything productive in this area?
The Liberals have managed to sabotage themselves and don't deserve any more chances.
Then we have the Teals, those sweet people who purport to be representing their local community but their raison detre is to save the planet.
Finding someone worthy enough to get my vote at the next election is going to be harder than trying to scale a high wall with one arm in a sling....

9 News reporting Senior Ministers are lobbying for the Premier to scrap funding for Stadiums as a result of the NRL not committing to hold the NRL Grand Final in Sydney long term.

On the cancel list are Penriths 300M new stadium and CoE funding for Parra, Dogs and Dragons. Unclear whether Perrottet will side with his ministers.

If V'Landy is taking on this super bowl approach, giving the GF to the highest bidder, why on earth did he give this year's GF to Sydney??? The NSW Govt re-negged and that hasn't changed as far as I know. In addition, Qld came with a higher bid for this year. Why wouldn't he give it to Qld this year and show NSW he is serious if they wont back their promises? I think he's just full of bluster and bluff. I just don't think this was the right decision for RL, although perhaps there's some extra information/news we haven't heard yet?

Apparently NSW was the highest bidder. Upped their bid by 8M or to 8M, can’t recall which.
Is it confirmed they had a higher bid? I heard NSW put in a "significant package" and I heard "additional investment", but I haven't heard anyone say it was actually a larger number than Qld offered.

You’re correct, looks like ‘additional investment’.

V’landys confirmed NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet tabled “extra investment” — reported to be $8 million — to secure the grand final — but stressed that the agreement is only in place for 2022.

The ARLC boss stated that beyond that the NRL could adopt an approach similar to the NFL Super Bowl.
