"Studs up grub": Slater mega thread

He always has a few errors in his game, they tend to get brushed over by the commentators lovefest for him though. One thing is indisputable, he is the biggest grub in the NRL. Hope he cops a couple of weeks for those cheap shot kicks.

Everybody makes mistakes, and even great players muck up at critical moments, but only very rarely. Slater is a very good player, even great in attack, but when the pressure is really on the errors come. Lost Australia a world cup, could have lost the storm the gf last year with a bad miss on catching a bomb, and then dropping a ball, but for a poor ref decision.

I dislike Slater with a passion but he is a great player, he does have his weaknesses but I would happily having him playing fullback for us if we lost Brett.

Hate him, not as much as Gidley, but I hate him however I also think he is an outstanding fullback and player.

Come on now Dan. Hoppa was just misunderstood  8) and Boyd was long long ago.

Slater is a major grub and cant compare to anyone we could name of our current squad, who are all just peachy innocent darlings.

Apart from all the other catty things quinn does, i have a certain burnt in memory, of him giving the cheapest shot of elbowing Steve Bell in the 08 GF when Bell couldnt see it coming & couldnt respond.

Anyone else got more in this family or the family tree ?

I am with Dan, the game has to have its villians.  I will dislike players for it but we need to have them in the game.  It would be boring if  every player was like Menzies!!!!  That is obviously not a dig at him, he is my all time favourite.

Slater has been done for kicking Skandalis in the head, dropping elbows onto a player already tackled, running 20m to throw a few punches into a Dragons winger being held by 2 forwards, Sliding into other players with the studs up, just an absolutely filthy little bastard

Was hilarious watching him run away after Skandalis got up ready to give it to him

Even with all of that, he is still a media darling who to them is just brilliant and can do no wrong.
