I suspect, after hearing what Des last said about Turbo, when he fumbled a little over saying a 'few weeks' yet, he's not expected back this year. Leaving the door open for Tom, but what I read Des is saying is its most unlikely. Not sure the NSW coach would be wanting to select him with such uncertainty about whether his injury is fully recovered.

100% right. It looks like we're playing with 10 players we are caught short so often.

Watching the top teams, that never happens. Whatever system we are playing, it needs scrapping.
Yeah, even if we had taken our chances and managed to get within striking distance - or even ahead on the scoreboard - it was clear the Storm could pretty much run through or around us whenever they pleased and we were never going to outscore them.

Defence has always been the focus of Des's teams. Whatever systems we have, we're not executing and our confidence is shot to ****. If we can't get that right, we're well and truly buggered.

Did you see how how Foz went last night ? Team had been going well enough and competitively enough when Walker has been at 6 . and then Turbo creates so much doubt and is a constant threat when on the paddock , Turbo at the back Walker at 6 and Suli and Albert in the centers with Brad as a bench utility . [ and surely the injury afflictions will ease up soon to allow some stability ] That is the combo in the backs i would like to see to compliment D C E . As for an effective 9 and no Fauni again , still a problem but probably still long odds to have Foz returning
Not saying I'm sold on foz and I admit I didn't watch the dogs after our game.i am not disagreeing with your player selection I just starting to feel we need a few more tactical smarts both guiding the young ones at training and on the field both for future advancement of them.
As good walker is he still off the cuff and not directing traffic. DCE isn't either so someone needs to do it. Amongst other things injury speed smarts we are lacking direction.

In the only charge from Sunday's matches, Manly prop Taniela Paseka is facing a fine for a tripping offence.

The grade one charge came from a 38th-minute incident involving Storm player Nicho Hynes.

An early guilty plea will result in a $750 fine while an unsuccessful trip to the judiciary would see that amount increase to $750.

Sooooooo........

Go to the judiciary I reckon!

Sounds like the sort of fancy number logic that the HRL applies to the Rorter's sombrero numbers

One thing I noticed yesterday was TWICE Manly had attacking scrums centrefield and TWICE the storm gave away penalties from the scrum for being way offside to defuse a dangerous attacking situation. Storm concede a penalty on the first tackle, slows the play, allows the defence to reset, and it's only the first tackle anyway & it's no penalty really.

Manly faced with the same situation sat back the full 10m and the Storm scored a try off the scrum.

Why are we so naive to simple tactics these days ??? This isn't the Des Hasler I remember.

Agree - yes we bombed 2 or 3 tries and the Storm were way below their usual level yesterday and the scoreline may have been close and we can say what if.... But the Storm were always going to do enough to beat us cause we beat ourselves time and time again with the basics. We need all the luck at the moment just to be in the contest.

So no crusher by trbo? Didn’t think so but they got a penalty

We need two hyper running second rowers that set up their outside men and can tackle, we need some spine with creativity, we need speed on the outside I think I may have mentioned it before but I'll say it again ...... we are SLOOOW across the ground and between the ears ...
So suddenly Siro can’t tackle lolololol. Yawn zzzzzz

I had tipped melb all week in our tipping comp, but game day, and being an eternal optimist, and liking those other positive comments led me to changing my tip at the last moment.

ah well.

At least it's not raining...wait....

fml

The try from Marty to AFB shows just how easy it can be. Hopefully some newbies get blooded and when everyone is fit and healthy it'll be good to watch.
well no offence BUT ....... you're an idiot!

Make some good points there and actually with the query on Foz , should have presented it better , as i did not see Foz play last night and just curious if you did and rated his effort O K . Think that the club has indicated their future preference in re signing Cust and keeping Walker but unfortunately Cade has dropped a notch or two on a form and performance level basis the last couple of matches .

Unfortunate cust hasn't been able to capatilise on good early form before he was dropped. being dropped may have effected his confidence more than we know.I was hoping he would push walker to center but if he doesn't kick on walker will be back at 5/8
We still have the shoe but not sure if he will be a director either specially being young. They need someone I had hoped Cust would become the general he still may still needs s someone to show him how either off or on the field.

Yeah, perhaps it just takes a certain type of person to fill that game-managing role? Looking back on Fozzie's early career, he seemed to be made for that type of role. Sure, he still needed to grow and develop but he seemed to have the right character and temperament from the start. I wonder if it can be taught to somebody not born with those traits naturally?

Very true you need that personality trait. Can be taught I think but still never as good as the natural leader director and foz did that.

I didn't say that max but if we were to replace those two, Thommo is reported as both going and staying ... then we need two hyper running second rowers that set up their outside men and can tackle .... if Sirro passed occassionally and didn't turn inside almost exclusively, he could be a star .... I like Sirro

Make some good points again and guess that one of the concerns with Cade in recent weeks has been his lack of defensive effectiveness along with his quite ordinary set up play of late also . Not even so sure now that he could reliably make the transition to a 9 . Still a capable player and no doubt has a competitive attitude but will have to show some general improvement to warrant a regular spot in the starting line up once the more rated back line players are eventually available again .

When I reflect on our current team, and assuming everybody is available, I think it still lacks in leadership direction, despite the talent on paper and the ability to beat anybody on their day. Perhaps we need to be looking out for this type of player to come in (I guess it's the old BK-type role?)

I’m not joking. Take a look:

It is a complete howler, what a **** up
BUMP!

Why isn't this in the newspapers and being discussed by fox etc? Will Annesley address it?

To recap - this was sent to the video ref and the video ref checked to see if Addo was behind Munster. Munster didn't kick it though, Smith did, and both Addo and Munster are comfortably in front of Smith.

The nein commentators including Fatty were crapping on about speed, and had no idea.
