State of Origin [Game II, 2021]

It's all swings & roundabouts anyway - QLD dominated for a decade because NSW couldn't get their halves combination right.

Now QLD don't have the talent pool they had to pick from during that decade of dominance & NSW have the luxury of fielding the 3 best fullbacks in the NRL in their backline & the best half & 5/8th combo.

QLD are also decimated by injuries, with their first choice hooker out, their 5/8th obviously not 100%, their first & second choice fullbacks both out, etc.

I love seeing NSW win but we all know it will eventually swing back QLD's way again & so on.

I thought DCE absolutely busted a gut trying to get a win for Qld.
As halfback yes he has to take some blame for them being a disorganised rabble in attack, but I don't subscribe to the view that it was chiefly his failing.
The rest of their spine was severely lacking.
The hooker showed why he's never been a serious contender for origin, Munster presumably wasn't quite fit, scarcely noticed in the 1st half.
It's only conjecture on my part, I could be way off base, I feel Munster and we all know he acts like a cat, has an ego clash with DCE, it happened in 2019 again in 2020
To me it looks like he deliberately pulls back knowing they won't win so DCE cops it. Then has one game where he smashes it as if to make a statement.
Sure he maybe carrying an Injury but I wouldn't be surprised if Munster comes out and has a huge game in game 3 now that DCE is the fall guy for the series loss
He's that much of a prick in my mind.

I'm going to give ratings for each side, just without any long winded explanations of how they played.

Queensland:
Holmes - 2/10
Coates - 2/10 - I give him 5 he played alright.
Capewell - 1/10
Gagai - 1/10 - same here - 4 or 5 he played alright
Feldt - 1/10
Munster - 2/10
Cherry-Evans - 5/10
Papalii - 3/10
McCollough - 1/10
Welch - 3/10
Arrow - 2/10
Kaufusi - 1/10
Fa'auuamaleaui - 2/10

Hunt 3/10, Fotuaika 2/10, Fifita 1/10, Molo 1/10

New South Wales:
Tedesco - 9/10
To'o - 6/10
Mitchell - 9/10
Trbojevic - 9/10
Addo-Carr - 8/10
Luai - 7/10
Cleary - 8/10
Saifiti - 8/10
Cook - 6/10
Paulo - 7/10
Murray - 6/10
Sims - 6/10
Yeo - 7/10

Wighton 1/10, Crighton 6/10, Haas 7/10, Martin 5/10

Crighton would have gotten a 7 but for that man bun.

Said it before and I will say it again. Tino and Fifita are as big a pair of cats I have seen in the same side.

Both on big $$$ and both play their best footy against the bottom 4 sides.

It didn't take Tino long to lose the Bellamy polish.
It's shocking how much Tino has dropped off since last year. He was explosive last year and now looks cumbersome and ineffective.

Fifita is going the way of the coal train. Off the rails!. Yay for renewable energy!

Could well be right, especially if you think about a young Munster coming through the ranks at the Storm, where the opinion of DCE amongst the likes of Cronk, Slater & Smith wouldnt have been particularly good.

A bit like a little brother growing up hating someone they don't actually know, based on their family's grudge.

And now the Tom and DCE shouldn't play in the 3rd dead rubber posts are about to begin ...
DCE will right some wrongs and probably have a good game to get QLD within 10 pts of NSW...

Turbo should honestly ask the coach fittler to play half a game, and wighton sub on for him at half time. In all reality Turbo isn't going to completely omit himself unless he has an injury niggle.

Haven't read the whole thread.

McCullough was diabolical last night. Triple pumping passes to his halves when 5m out, taking away any space and time. They looked a lot better when Hunt came on.

Qld forwards were ineffective after 10 mins.

DCE is not direct enough, just like he plays for us, at times.

Media pretty predictable with the DCE bashing though. Gets scapegoated every loss.

I must admit, there is a part of me that is disappointed when Tommy doesn't run for 300m, make 4 line breaks, 3 try assists and score 3 of his own. It's not my fault though - he is the one who has raised my expectations! So yeah, I thought Tommy underwhelmed last night @:p

If its any consolation, if Cameron Murray holds on to a pass on one play and actually gets back behind the play the ball on another, that's another try assist and another try for Turbo...

With regards to critics of DCE, yes he isn't good enough to carry a **** team to victory all by himself. But he is hardly the problem for the Queensland team.

And f**k Cronk and others Qld greats for having a go at him. One of my biggest disappointments is Cronk and Smith suddenly "retiring from rep football" right when NSW finally started getting its **** together. The cowards could see the writing on the wall.

They could have stuck around and try to pass on the legacy, but nope they just f* right off, so in my mind they can just stfu about the current players. How about instead offering some support to the players.
