How the hell are grounds in Mudgee, Wynnum, Bega & St Marys able to host NRL trials but Brookvale a so-called NRL ground is not up to standard.
The council should be seriously embarrassed about this.
They should, but until Regan goes (back to the inner west), little will change.

Perhaps the developers who wanted to take over Warringah Golf Club could help him out. After all, he did everything in his power to try and get their plan over the line.

Pity they can't move the game to Rat Park - surely it can accommodate a 3000-odd crowd.
And if not Rat Park, then North Sydney Oval or even Central Coast Stadium would be better than the ordeal of getting to Cronulla.

What a joke no money should be spent on this dump by the state or feds. Last game was 6 months ago and it's not fit for a trial yet we "supposedly" have 36 mill to blow on a centre of excellence. Great we have a new bells and whistle centre of excellence but a home ground that isn't fit for trials.
We better get our act together or we will be out of the comp in 2 years with this rubbish. By get our act together stop wasting money paying hiring fees to a council who continue and have for the last 30 years done nothing to the ground. Time to move and the time is now not before we are forced.

I work in North Sydney and the oval is a terrific urban ground that is close to public transport. The Bears are a lost cause but you have to admit, their ground is leagues ahead of Brookie.

Have you ever tried to walk around NSO when it has a big crowd?
The people sitting at the base of the main stand (if not others as well) on the western side, have people passing in front of them, blocking their view all day long. It is an extremely cramped facility.

Plus:
It is the wrong shape;
It has a cricket pitch in the middle;
No (or at least few) corporate boxes;
No electronic scoreboard;
No TV standard lighting; and
It has a smaller capacity than Brookvale.

The one area it is probably ahead is that their Council look after it somewhat better than ours does re: Brookvale. And it does have a nice atmosphere when a decent crowd is in attendance. But so does Brookvale.

Well this blows.
I was heading down for this one as my cousin and his missus won 10 tix to next weeks trial and the 10 of us were supposed to form the guard of honour for the boys as they ran onto brookie.
Can't say it would be nearly as well received doing it in cronulla LOL

Manly and Cronulla have decided to shift their NRL trial game to Southern Cross Group Stadium over fears the Lottoland surface cannot handle two football games in a week.

The Waratahs are scheduled to play their opening Super Rugby match against the Hurricanes at Lottoland on Saturday, February 16.

A week later the Sea Eagles are due to play their first 2019 season NRL trial game against the Sharks, also at Lottoland.

An inspection of the surface on the eve of the Super Rugby game by Manly coach Des Hasler, football manager John Bonasera and Sharks football manager Shane Smith pushed both clubs into the decision due to player safety concerns.

The February 23 trial will move to the Sharks home ground, with the club offering to accommodate Sea Eagles members, corporate partners and supporters' requests.

In a statement released by Manly, they acknowledged that the Northern Beaches Council – which owns and maintains Lottoland – had said they were on track to provide "a safe and satisfactory playing surface" in time for the NRL game.

But obviously, the clubs think otherwise.

Manly CEO Lyall Gorman stressed the decision was not a reflection on the club's relationship with Northern Beaches Council.

"Our club, and council’s, focus is to have the field in optimal condition in preparation for the commencement of the NRL season and our first home match against the Roosters on Saturday 23 March," Gorman said.

"Moving this game and ensuring that no other fixtures are played at Lottoland before our first home game, other than the already scheduled Sydney FC A-League match, will greatly assist this process.

"We have an incredibly strong working relationship with Northern Beaches Council and on the back of last week's funding announcement by the State Government for the stage one Centre of Excellence enhancement of Lottoland, we remain extremely excited by, and committed to, our future at Brookvale and our long-term partnership with Council,"’ Gorman said.

Um Lyall you forgot to mention everyday now until the season starts people will be walking their dogs and using brookvale oval for normal sport and so the ground will see traffic on it.

The club is paying big money to play at Brookie. If the council cant meet the requirements, Manly should out them and sue them. They need to be made accountable
They still have to work with Council to gain the latter’s approval for the CoE.

To then commence legal proceedings (if in fact the club had a case) would be akin to shooting yourself in the foot.
