Well, great suggestions, but can't see the heading and can't open it even pasting the link into a google search. WTF is it with the Telegraph daring to ask people for money to subscribe?... lol. Australia is so far behind the rest of the IT world it's laughable.

Surely somebody is savvy enough to paste the article here?

Why the evidence of any possible NRL match-fixing must be made public
Paul Kent, The Daily Telegraph

THE conversation should have been held in the kind of bar where they could cure ham but, such is the nod to progress, the place was bright and sterile and entirely unsuitable.

It didn’t matter, the conversation was more than illuminating, if a little quiet. There were people about.

Great article Kent agree with your statement.
It true we can't due for defamation due to us bring a club not an individual, that is why the journalists feel so open to write this about us

I think sometime people forget that many police are also sports fans. In the past they have covered up incidents for teams they like (St Kilda for one example) so there's nothing stopping them to instigate a witch hunt against a team they don't like.

As most people 'hate' Manly it's not too far a jump to think this is happening here. As Paul Kent says....there's nothing deserving of an investigation even if guilty and it's only the police who leaked info into the public domain so they can say they need to investigate it.

You'd think the police would be busy concentrating on their own 'internal issues' that seemingly never go away.

NWA said it best.

Thanks to @Wombat64 for posting.

Edit: You can guarantee somewhere Kent's article has been filed as 'never to forget' somewhere in the police force.

NRL betting scandal reportedly shocks police, administrators

The widespread trading of inside information to gain an advantage for those wagering on games as well as numerous players betting on their own performance, has reportedly shocked both police and NRL administrators.

Sources have told Fairfax Media that NRL officials have been alerted to these practices by detectives from the NSW Organised Crime Squad. Last September, Strike Force Nuralda was set up to investigate match fixing within the NRL.

While it is understood that organised match fixing has not been detected, investigators from Strike Force Nuralda have discovered that as well as players betting on themselves, there has been a steady trade of inside information where players and officials have been passing on confidential information to punters.

Under the NSW Crimes Act is it a criminal offence, punishable by up to two years jail, if someone passes on "inside information" which is used to make a bet.

Because HM, some people in the fourth estate are under the delusion that a club with a tiny junior league, that includes some of Australia's wealthiest suburbs and financially influential citizens with links to the big end of town (within its boundaries), should not be held up to jealous derision by the media.

Thus feeding into the impressionable mindsets of their readers and/or viewers.

Unlike our club.

Yep. Collectively a vindictive bunch. Must go with the siege mentality.

You can always try other News Ltd paper's sites as well for DT league articles. The Advertiser and Perth Now often don't rate league coverage as valuable enough to hide behind the paywall and offer it as free content. Same story by same journalist just published by a sister site.
