Unlikely. First posts threaten legal action and cast aspersions on the mods. Could be wrong but from first impressions ...doesn't auger well for a bright future here.

Yeah. But a noticeable increase like they maybe realised that Manly doesn't usually get an equal share of the feel good stories so they have to add some in to bring up the quota to match others...

Or they realised that they're bashing their own product with the salary cap witch hunt so they thought they need to balance the argument.

Either way, it's unusual.

I was about to type "never trust the feel good stories...it's a trap!"

Then I saw the story about how Manly are apparently the only team buying juniors.

Call me naive.. But who is actually driving this bad publicity / witch hunt against Manly? Is there any credible evidence to support this or is it all conjecture? Is it the bilderbergs? Illuminati? Greenturd? I mean we are not exactly the Silvertails of old. We don't buy premierships like other clubs.. So you would think that everyone would back off.

The way I see it is that those involved in the genesis of this story, are all trying to save face and justify the monies spent on fighting shadows @

She realizes that NRL bad news stories are front page news.
Probably believes that a Police Investigation will help uncover more dirt on Hayson.

Police are unable to share information if it is gained during confidential coercive examinations, which can not be released to non-police organisations such as the NRL.
However, the information of an un-named Business man's payments are leaked to the NRL by the Police.

No, now we just steal their juniors.

That's a good evaluation of it all. To be honest I didn't know much about Kate Mc##t... She is a nasty piece of work.. She definitely is the witch leading the hunt. Reading deeper she was sued for defamation by former Macquarie Bank executive Bill Moss. Bill Moss was awarded damages. This is what the judge had to say about her:

" there is a collection of statements which, while not openly attributing dishonesty or corruption to those persons, convey those notions in the careful language of insinuation and scepticism.”

On her Twitter account she is always using the same kind of language against the eagles in this whole sorry saga. Again in her articles.. Surely given that a precedent has been set, you would think the eagles should take her to the cleaners for defamation!

A Journo's agenda is one thing, but my concern is the leak of alleged cash payments by the Strike Force Nuralda

Completely contravenes their scope and integrity of police investigations in general

If they did not follow up and find proof of these allegations, then leaking the conversations is truly pathetic :swear:

Anyone seen any witches lately? Awfully quiet....

We learn today that the NSW Police and NRL have halted their investigation into the salary cap breaches of the whinging worms, pretty much because there were two people arrested as a result. Now that the worms are off the hook and the penalty they paid was a 12 point deduction and 1 million dollar fine and the sum of losing one of their first team in Nathan Peats. Wow, what a price they paid?? I just wonder what millennium the NRL will finalise their investigation into our club for our alleged breaching of the cap? I predict actually it might be the moment we qualify for the finals. The worms did this work under Greenturds watch and were slapped with a wet feather as a result and given every chance to be successful because the NRL need them. I wonder if we will get the same leniency should we be convicted of salary cap infringements. Time will tell, I just wish this would end so our club can move forward, we are stuck until this is resolved. The NRL said that the investigation would take a month, we are over that mark now, I like most of you just want this sorted out once and for all.

Manly Sea Eagles chairman Scott Penn halts CEO search until after salary cap enquiry

MANLY chairman Scott Penn has placed the club’s crucial search for a CEO on hold until an NRL salary cap inquest into the Sea Eagles is made clear.

Penn has revealed his plans to seek determination over the cap-breach allegations and ask why the case can’t be closed, with NRL boss Todd Greenberg this week.

The Sea Eagles are down to a short-list of CEO candidates, but have postponed any further talks.

“We’ve told them (candidates), ‘We don’t want to put any pressure on anyone, so let’s just hold fire for a couple of weeks until we get some further clarity (over the salary cap allegations),’’ Penn said.

“We’ve really just postponed the process for a couple of weeks. It hasn’t stopped the process. We’re still in dialogue. We’ve certainly got a short-list.

“But we’re just waiting to have our final round interviews until after we get some clarity (over the salary cap allegations).’’

Former Manly forward and current Gold Coast Titans chief operating officer, Tony Mestrov, is also believed to be on the Sea Eagles radar, while current Sharks CEO, Lyall Gorman, also has support from influential figures at the club.

There’s a belief that the Sea Eagles, who take on Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday, are looking for a CEO that doesn’t necessarily need a deep understanding of rugby league, but rather, an operator who can oversee, develop and strengthen the club’s commercial arm.

The NRL announced last month that they would begin interviewing senior Manly officials over alleged salary cap breaches.

Titans COO Tony Mestrov.

Manly have maintained any wrongdoing throughout the process.

“We are attempting to get the cap issue wrapped up as quickly as we can,’’ Penn said. We’ve fully complied and we’re not concerned. We just want to get it done and dusted. We’ve certainly been in good dialogue with them (NRL).

“They’ve obviously got to go through their process, we’re not trying to put too much pressure on but we would very much like to clear our name as quickly as possible and move on.

We’re hoping to get that next week. We’re hoping to get some guidance on how far out are we and or even, can we just wrap it up?

“If we can get that next week, then we can have some clarity.’’

If I were Penn, I would not be holding my breath, it is in Greenturds interests to delay this and draw this out so that our club is continued to be painted in a bad light. My prediction is that this will all be revealed in the week of round 26 of the comp. If this is a red herring, I do hope the club take the NRL to task over this.

It won't be a good look for the NRL to have one of the semifinal teams still under a salary cap cloud. Wrap the bloody thing up now.
No I agree with @sheridanstand78 , they'll hold this for maximum impact in case we actually make the finals.

If we miss the 8 at the expense of the Panthers / Eels it will all magically go away!

The CEO 'candidates' mentioned seem to have strong credentials. But has the club every considered Beaver Menzies?
He may not be interested, but if available I'd see him a perfect. He is well liked by everyone in the sport, he is smart, articulate and able to deal at Boardroom level to attract sponsors.
Thoughts?
