Salary Cap Witch Hunt. **Appeal unsuccessful**

Manly Sea Eagles have told the NRL they will lodge an appeal over the salary cap sanctions handed down to the club on Monday.

Sea Eagles chairman Scott Penn confirmed to NRL.com the club had alerted the NRL Appeals Committee of its intention to protest the $750,000 fine and the $660,000 in salary cap restrictions.

I hope we rip them a new one! Go Manly!

I know accuracy is too much to hope for with the modern hack journo .... but are we appealing the judgement or just the penalty .... big difference.

Manly will challenge the NRL's salary cap penalty.

Sea Eagles chairman Scott Penn told AAP that the club had lodged paperwork to take their case to the NRL appeals committee.

The Sea Eagles were this week fined $750,000 and slugged $660,000 in salary cap penalties over the next two years after being sanctioned by the governing body however have maintained their innocence.

Who is on the NRL's committee anyway ? Are they independent or just another Greenturd appointed arm of the NRL ???

Can't see us getting a subjective & fair hearing !!
Probably more a necessary step before taking it to court. I don’t think Manly expect the NRL to change their decision - regardless of whether it was right or wrong.

it will certainly put a different complexion on things if it does eventually go to a common law matter . Fighting the good fight for sure if it does get to that stage and if the recommendation is that Manly has a strong case.

NRL appeals committee is as follows:
Todd Greenflog
Nick Weaks
James Hooper
The Mole
Reading TP
Make it 800 k and one more page then for them to deliberate on and review. That will stump them .[ and of course exclusive rights recognition to H M on the initial paper estimate ]

Peter....doesnt he have to actually play ? Somewhere. ..blacktown even...in order to get paid ? Medical retirement I get...either insurance or club pays...may or may not count in in your cap etc ( dependant upon if you play for the eels etc )...but just straight out retirement ? I dont recall this ever happening with any player at any club ...pls explain...anyone..? Or give me an instance where its happened.
Yes he does have to play as he wasn't medically retired, however I would say the club probably came to some settlement that was mutually beneficial to both parties, ie he stays away and we probably pay him half his contract, or he comes back and has to play for our feeder club, better to piss him off.

Yet he apparently does not have to be included in the main 30 man squad . Certainly pretty flexible guidelines .

The powers that be have really made the whole game extremely difficult to understand both on and off the field. Outside shoulder, inside shoulder. TPAs. Conditions for medical retirement. Paying players at other clubs.
And they wonder why interest in the game is plummeting.

It was a joke that we signed him in the first place, whoever authorised that needs sacking!!

And that is probably one of the main reasons why there is then so much inconsistency and double standards in the game now and then with Interpretation on interpretations . Can get a bit annoying but just supporting the mighty Sea Eagles through thick and thin and year in , year out is always still my main interest and priority sporting wise .
