We should be sacking Seibold, Hales, Lambkin, Dymock, and now Weeden. Why? None of them have any history at Manly and it shows.

Seibold might live in the area but he is a Queenslander who played for Canberra and the London Broncos.

Hales was a Wests Magpie junior that didn’t make the grade.

Dymock is a Bulldog/Eel.

Lambkin was a Magpie. I know he won an u/20s Comp with us but he is still not a Manly person.

Weeden never even played rugby league and has never had anything to do with our club.

Suddenly the future of our clubs rests in the hands of people that have no deep love for it, but rather, want jobs in the NRL.

Has a mediocre coach ever coached Manly to a premiership?

In my lifetime it was Bob Fulton and Des Hasler - both coaching legends.

So unless there is an outstanding candidate with Manly DNA, then prefer they get a more credentialed coach from elsewhere.

For whatever reason I don't think Ballin's coaching stint at Blacktown worked very well.

As for other "home grown" coaching options, there's not too many obvious ones I'm aware of:

Brent Kite - Was coaching with some success in Northern NSW, but somewhat strangely went off the rails a bit.
Michael Monaghan - Currently Des' assistant at the Titans.
Geoff Toovey - Won't happen and he isn't the solution anyway.
Brett Fulton - Won a fair bit with pretty stacked junior teams, not sure where he is coaching now though.

Brett Stewart is in the club in some role at the club currently, but I'm not sure he'd want to coach.
Glenn Stewart struck me as the 'on-field' leader but I'm not sure he'd want to coach either. Anthony Watmough is the club's Sydney Shield coach, but hard to assess as he's only had 5 games in charge so far.

We’re not likely to see a well-credentialled ex-Manly player filling the role anytime soon.

That’s why we have to hope that Seibold, or someone of similar ilk, can create history.

It won’t happen! they are still trying to sort out Des’s severance. I think we are struck with until the end of next year. Anyways this season is still far from over for us!

I think if you kept reading my post, I indicated that the entire game consists of mercenaries. However, it's usually a faction of outsiders, with the club itself still comprising some genuine affiliates.

In saying that, the issue I have is probably not so much where these people came from, rather that they're not very good.

I think Arthur cops a bad rap from Manly fans,purely on the fact he was Parra’s coach.He just stayed too long there.He’s a very good defensive coach and there’s no doubt Manly need that help

Somebody at Manly needs to get some big arse 3rd party and we need to offer the clearys A truck load as a combo. Someone in property and offer them a lifestyle deal unheard of in rugby league. Circumvent the rules like never ever before. Make them close the loophole after we do it .Make sure no more than 1.5 on cap and we are back .

Get ruthless manly , thats what this club lacks currently from top to bottom.

If true i applaud the stand, but if seibold goes it will be for the same reasons all before him have too. He just didnt make the big calls and that will again start manlys rebuild with another Ironstine making the same mistakes for the same reasons by trying to build a solid game on a rickety bridge

Its not the same as souths because our culture is different but its another win for under performing players with too much control and not enough results to justify

Maybe seibold isnt the answer but pressing the reset switch for players and a new coach would be far worse

Make seibs sweat it, move goalposts, but bringing in a new dude who reckons he can fix a wheel that doesnt want to be fixed is BAD. He didnt sign the big 3 and thats just too big of an achor for most

Contract talks between Manly and Anthony Seibold are ‘on hold’ with the struggling Sea Eagles refusing to be rushed into any extension for the under-fire coach.

The future of Manly Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold is in doubt at Brookvale after a breakdown in negotiations over a new contract.

Seibold is under contract until the end of next season and was in talks for an extension.

However the situation has changed after Manly has lost its last three games and there is talk Seibold walked out of a meeting with the club management on Thursday morning.

“It’s a results driven business and we won’t be rushed,” said one Manly source.

Seibold and his manager Isaac Moses had been in talks with the Sea Eagles for several weeks.

This masthead understands those discussions have now been put on hold.

It is a difficult one for Manly CEO Tony Mestrov because he is so close to Seibold.

“I don’t think it’s an issue because Anthony is under contract for another 12 months,” Mestrov said.

“We will continue to have discussions with his agent at the appropriate time.”

After looking like a top-four contender earlier in the season, Manly has stumbled in recent weeks.

They have lost to the Broncos, Dolphins and Raiders in the last three weeks.

It has been a hugely turbulent period for head coaches in recent weeks following the sackings of Jason Demetriou and Brad Arthur.

This masthead has reached out to Seibold and agent Moses for comment.

We revealed a month ago that Seibold and Manly officials had an agreement to negotiate a new deal after Round 10.

Manly missed out on the finals last year and are now running 10th on the ladder, hence the decision to hold fire on contract extension talks.

What is it with these coaches? Seibold is already contracted for next season and is pushing for an extension **** me do your job get the team to the finals and than we talk.

He has done nothing with us so far I'm stunned he is contracted for next season. Not surprising he is nervous as Arthur is sacked and Penn wanted him before Des was reappointed so it's not surprising.

It is reported in the Tele article that Mestrov is close the Seibold well Tony needs to do his job or leave and the job at the moment is to say Seibs no extension get this team firing or you will not be coach for next season.
