Sack Des, Sign Shane Flanagan for 2022

I for one am advocating him for an assistant role - not to takeover from Des (yet anyway). Don't think some new ideas could hurt cos what we are trying ain't workin!

He would make a great assistant for Des.. he has good insight and would attract a few players. Make is happen Manly! Paul Green would be ok but i think he is a bit like Des

I would rather rot in the gutter than to employ more dickheads. As Arko would say "Turn it up that's not my go". I would rather loose every game with decent people than win games with knob heads. We need to retain some sort of face.

I admire your loyalty for Des as I have been a big fan of his resilience over the years

But any way you cut it Des has grossly been under achieving

As all passionate Manly supports always do . I will always support our legendary club through the tough times

But l do not support successive record breaking scores that have been shaming our club for the past 12 consecutive games where Des has not been able to lift his players including the Good players and the Elite ones to compete let alone get them up for a win and not even a win at our spiritual home where we got thrashed again recently to a all time record loss and the biggest loss in our proud winning history

Des seems like the Legendary boxer who has had one fight too many and is past his prime and he just keeps getting TKO'd every time he gets into the ring and that is exactly how he has his team playing. No resilience from our team what so ever

I am Glad our Club has given Des the contract where he either starts getting results or starts to pack his bags and enjoy his retirement

Well put Bozo. Agree entirely. I’ll never forget what Des did for us through the mid 2000s bringing us back to nrl powerhouses. In a lot of ways he and those sides resparked my interest in the game post the NE debacle. Because of this I don’t bag him out as much as others here. Also 2019 was not that long ago. Yes the game has changed and I really hope the mad scientist can evolve with it. He’s got this year to turn it around so I’ll support him all the way until he’s sacked. I too like The deal he’s on with the club, success or bust. Sadly all signs to now suggest he’s past it. Interesting the media are now starting to sink the boot in as well. I’d like to hope that good ole Des siege mentality starts to emerge and the team rally around one another a bit.

It's a fair shout, however listening to him in commentary for Foxsports one gets the feeling he is on point with what's required (Wether he could execute it with the current crop of flops is a different matter)

Agree he sounds on point in the commentary. At least in relation to Walkers fb play. Mind you all of us pointed that out too.

People seem to forget that at the Sharks he recruited and played the oldest roster ever seen,he is less likely to play our young talent than Des...he recruited guys consistently toward the end of their career,as an assistant,yeah,as a head coach,no way.

The title of the thread is "Sack Des sign Shane Flanagan for 2022" There is no mention of Flanagan helping Des in the title at all. You are saying let the man redeem himself, What at our club? You have to be joking mate. Are you for real here. "Let flanno help des" Read the title of the thread mate. No ones helping anyone. Who do i suggest anyone but a dickhead or a cheat. um yes... I am just not sure that the problem is all or mostly his I suppose. Just my view.

I think Neil Henry would be worth considering. He was a great assistant for Meninga when he coached QLD and he was doing a fair job with the Titans until Hayne started sulking and derailed the team. Plus, I just get the feeling he'd probably have a positive effect on the boys without treading on Dessie's toes. He also comes across as a decent sort of bloke which which wouldn't do our PR situation any harm.
