Not sure why the fascination in Flanagan.He has had any number of indiscretions that have seen him suspended a few times and was at the helm for their drug program and when the Sharks cheated the cap in ‘15&’17 but not their premiership year ‘16,apparently

If Des really does get the sack, we should look at Bennett. He finishes up with Souths at the end of this year. He seems to want to coach until he drops and still has it.

I’d take him for a couple of years to help turn us around. I think if we win our first spoon there is no way Des stays. We would need to finish 10-13 for him to stay next year. Anything lower than that and I think he is in real trouble.

If Hasler isn't the answer then I think Flanagan is the best option. Flanagan probably isn't spoiled for choice, and neither is any team wanting a decent coach.

They also had mongrel which Manly does not have and so desperately needs

BUT if we get caught cheating we will get completely rooted by the NRL

P.S. The Sharks under Flanagan were also generous enough to let us win basically every game against them so he has good Manly credentials already

I would keep Ballin and Monaghan, but bring in the Walker Brothers on a two year deal as head coaches. Their coaching style (contract football) is suited to the new rules. High risk, innovative, attack based football, that is aimed at developing our younger players (and assistant coaches) could take us into a Ballin led dynasty after they move on.

You could argue that Des' style of coaching is also high risk.. he's sticking with Parker, Croker and selecting players out of position.

Just a question.... and I know this is silly of me to question Flanagan's experience with this "new" game but yes... if Des is passed it and the new game is too expansive for his "dinosaur" views as some of you believe.... just wondering what proof have you that Flanagan is the answer and has the game to win in this new era? Again I know.... silly question to ask but asking for a friend.

I admire your loyalty for Des as I have been a big fan of his resilience over the years

But any way you cut it Des has grossly been under achieving

As all passionate Manly supports always do . I will always support our legendary club through the tough times

But l do not support successive record breaking scores that have been shaming our club for the past 12 consecutive games where Des has not been able to lift his players including the Good players and the Elite ones to compete let alone get them up for a win and not even a win at our spiritual home where we got thrashed again recently to a all time record loss and the biggest loss in our proud winning history

Des seems like the Legendary boxer who has had one fight too many and is past his prime and he just keeps getting TKO'd every time he gets into the ring and that is exactly how he has his team playing. No resilience from our team what so ever

I am Glad our Club has given Des the contract where he either starts getting results or starts to pack his bags and enjoy his retirement

I for one am advocating him for an assistant role - not to takeover from Des (yet anyway). Don't think some new ideas could hurt cos what we are trying ain't workin!
