Sack Barrett

Should we sack Trent

Tears before a match says two things to me:

1 - He's too close to the players (and so they won't fear/respect him like they need to).

2 - He doesn't know how to coach a first grade side and is cracking under the pressure. He was obviously made a first grade coach too early.

Tooves should have never been sacked.
I lost a lot of respect for Arko when he willingly joined the flick 2v mob with this 'too close to his players' line 😎

Let me say, I am of the opinion we need a shake up in the coaching ranks, 3 seasons in......it is time

But dead set you can't win with some of you lot, if he doesn't show emotion, he is not Manly and he doesn't care.

When you can openly see how much this season is hurting him and how it is affecting him...he is soft get rid

Ridiculous

Too little, too late I'm afraid.

I said from the start that I hope Barrett succeeds. Not because I was any fan of his before he came to Manly because I wasn't. But if he succeeded, Manly succeeded. The stark reality is that, club issues aside, we have gone backwards, literally, with Trent Barrett as our head coach.

He has not succeeded, he has failed miserably.

I do feel a little sorry for him because personally it would be hard to take for anyone. But the reality is that as a coach he has been measured, weighed and has been found wanting.

Some numb-nutt gossip twatter says Barrett got a bit emotional pre game ...

And FMD the punchies on here have in several pages elevated a suspect observation into a fully fledged meld down ...

... A tip ... Barrett has more character and starch than many coaches I have seen .... his ability to keep it, himself and the team together amid all the Shiite of the past 3 years has been exceptional ... I know very few other coaches who would have ...

What a lot of complete hysterical dribble .......

So, is it alright for players and fans to cry but not a coach?
Whilst I agree that Tooves should never have been sacked that was not Twenty's fault.
It is a results driven business ... not sure where I heard that . . . so his win:loss record means he has failed and should be replaced. Along with a heap of players.
But the personal criticism of Twenty is pathetic. He has obviously tried his best. Can't we just leave it at that?

No point in bringing Tooves up again, he lost the new management as well as the players, time to move on.

Err, so we're just taking the sporting news at face value now?

There seems to be a bit of that going on, depending on your points of view.

One post will quote Rothfield and the masses will hound it down as the usual Telecrap BS but a somewhat "positive" story is taken as gospel and about time he wrote something good.
Same as articles by the Mole, Sporting News and The Jerker.
Then there is the my mates Aunty's brother, her next door neighbour was down at the pub and had a beer with a guy that knows one of the coaching staff's primary school teacher and they said.....
I swear it's true.

Depending on your agenda, believe what you will but it sure fills our day with some friendly and not so friendly banter on here.

Mate as I said, I think its time for a shake up on the coaching side of things

My point is people cannot criticize him not being Manly and therefore not caring about results enough then criticize him for getting too emotional about our current plight

You can't have you're cake and eat it too

Good point....
We all go through our trials and tribulations and life can really be ruthless at times but we all have to go to work and face the pressure and heavy load and perform . I n my fulltime job I look after the security of a P1 Government building and If I went to work with tears in my eyes I would be asked to go home . Not a good look for a person in charge to break down IMO
Cool, do you get a gun or a night stick?

I don't need a gun feathered friend I have self made guns from the gym work 😉
A night stick does come handy though
I'd love a night stick they look cool. Ever get to whack anyone with it?

Bozo, you provide great posts on here and well hats off to you if you've never felt so stressed in the work place that you've been broken. In my profession it happens, for many reasons. From the top to the bottom. Any job where you manage people and have expectations for yourself and the people in your charge to perform can be highly stressful. Particularly if you are understaffed and under resourced.

No adult, unless they're some sort of attention seeking nutbag, ever plans to show emotions or weaknesses but they can come out of nowhere, and have many contributing factors, during times of stress.
The world is changing. The boys don't cry rubbish is complete BS and being raised this way is why many young men hide their emotions, end up with depression and tragically this can lead to suicide. Young men between 16 and 44 have the highest suicide rate in the country and attitudes shown by some on here are stereotypical of why this sad statistic exists.

I'm not crusading that Barrett is the coach of the year. This post is about criticism of the coach for showing emotion. The emotions and the coaching are separate.
I can predict who will dislike this so go ahead. We all want Manly to win but attitudes towards men and emotions need to change so that more families can keep their, sons, brothers, fathers.
Thank you for your point of view
Who said men should not cry ?
I cry like very body else cries but there is a time and a place for everything
. The mentally strong show inner strength and composure and don't break down when the going gets tough .
Which raises a concern. People that are not capable of handling stress should not be exposed to pressure and stressful situations because they eventually do succumb to mental disorders such as anxiety , stress and depression that lead to suicide .
We all have our strength and weaknesses and we are not all suited to do certain jobs
A head coach is a tough gig and Trent does not seem to be handling it very well and for the sake of his welfare he should step down .

In the security business whacking is the last resort . You have to show composure and self control but if the others person loses control then you have no option but to use enough reasonable force in self defence to shut the mother fcker up
I hope that makes sense feathered friend

I'm not a fan of Barret, but to me this indicates the club's failing as his employer and not a sign that Barret does not have the strength to be a coach. Everyone, no matter how tough you, are has a breaking point and it looks like Barrett has reached his. I also think there are two approaches to NRL coaching, one is to give it everything you have and the other show up and do enough to get you a paycheck. Despite his apparent shortcomings I think Barrett is the former. The real question is why is the club allowing someone who appears to be suffering from significant work related stress to continue, especially when it is most likely impacting on his and the team's performance and could/should they have provided him adequate support in the first place before it got this far.
I thought I would have moved on from Tooves sacking by now, but I am constantly reminded of how unfair and politically motivated it was. Barrett now appears free of any interaction from management, positive or negative and I am becoming more and more convinced about where the real problems at Manly are coming from.

That was an incredible show of strength Bozo.....if ever there was an opportunity for one of your memes it was then
...I'm proud of you 😉
You know what @MuzztheEagle . We are all quality people in our own unique ways .
We all have our strengths and weaknesses and natural talents . No one is greater than the other as no one has every attribute , quality , or talent .
This is why we should all learn to love our selves and be proud of our selves because if we don't know how to love our selves it is impossible to love others as we cant give away what we don't have .
The best thing any one can ever do is learn to love them selves and appreciate how great they really are .
We are all unique and wonderful and we should all be proud of our selves
We all are the original and the best !!!
