Why is it Manly are the sluggiest machine to ever put pen to paper on any front...not just in The Lowe era...but ever???

Look around the clubs and every other side is in the same boat mate, I don't know if Jennings has even officially resigned with Penrith yet. Minichiello on the Footy Show the other night said he has pretty much agreed terms with the Roosters but would still be another couple of weeks before anything was signed etc

It is a bit of a different market this year as well, this is from RLW

"Rival clubs are filthy at the Storm for continually stalling on deciding the future of their star players as they try to fit under the salary cap for 2011. "The NRL, as usual, has done nothing to help us sort this mess out" one rival CEO says. "They should have set the Storm a deadline to decide who they are keeping and who they'll let go - they are holding up the whole game"
[/quote]

Let tonight show you why our team should be at the forefront when it comes to signings. The Storm are different. They don't NEED to sign  people- they already have a fantastic nucleus.

Manly presently have some glaring holes. Holes that should have been addressed and aren't - like our forwards.

I know it was a cap problem, but we shouldn't have let JWH go.

Raider McCrone is a 'gamble'

THE Raiders risk slipping into another season of mediocrity if they don't recruit a gun halfback, according to former Canberra captain Simon Woolford. And the retired hooker says it will be a ''gamble'' if the club puts all its faith in rising playmaker Josh McCrone.
The Raiders have so far failed in their attempt to lure an experienced No7 to the capital for the 2011 season.
Despite pledging their commitment to McCrone's development just two weeks ago, the Raiders are again on the hunt for a new halfback.
This time Canberra is interested in Dally M Medal winner and Manly's premiership-winning captain Matt Orford.
Orford is trying to get a release from his English Super League club, Bradford, in an attempt to return to Australia.
He is back in the Australia recovering from shoulder surgery and travelled to Canberra last week to meet Canberra officials.
A possible deal with the Raiders would be a huge boost to a team which has lacked direction at times this season.
Woolford said Orford would alleviate the pressure on Canberra linchpin Terry Campese and had the potential to propel the Raiders up the ladder.

Bradford won't release him. They had a recent fan forum with Bradford fans and the question was asked and the director of Bradford fully expects Orford to return for pre season training in November.

Also hearing that Menzies might play on another season with Bradford! He is up there in amongst the leaders for Bradford's best and fairest so who knows

Re: Rumoured Signings

Zorba on the radio this morning said Orford is in negotiations wth Newcastle. He also mentioned that Menzies would play another year. Dean Ritchie said Newcastle are in negotiations with Ben Farrar.

Re: Rumoured Signings

good they can have farrer he is hopeless fullback scared of the high ball STILL....might be ok somewhere else but fullback no thanks see ya????

Re: Rumoured Signings

Sounds like Inglis will stay at Melbourne, if that is the case, expect to hear Adam Blair to the Warriors very soon

Cowboys are also interested in Blair, Proctor and Manu

Re: Rumoured Signings

Has anyone else heard that there is some interest from us in Titans Prop, Matt White for next season?

Re: Rumoured Signings

What do expect??? We already have 12 internationals plus 2 State of origin players (Ballin & King).

Re: Rumoured Signings

whose the 12 internationals?

That's olden days: All we in 2010 have is:

Current: Lyon, Matai, Foran

Watmough (current 2010 form is debatable)

Former: Brett (won't play origin again) D Williams (won't play origin again)

Glenn (won't play high rep again) Kite and Ballin (won't play origin again)

I imagine we are paying overs for former representative players.

Re: Rumoured Signings

I doubt they will Tim, it would have been Glenn's chance this year but didn't really get a look in with selectors. With Jarrod Hayne and Gidley there Brett would be lucky to get a spot, Brett's defence will even be more vulnerable after these 2 injuries resulting from him trying to make tackles.

No way Glenn will be picked in front of the likes of Lewis, Bird, Gallen, Watmough etc

Re: Rumoured Signings

Brett stewart has had a bad injury but he is also a champion player and champion players have the ability to overcome adversity. Benji Marshall had broken his shoulders many times and many people wrote him off but he came back and proved the pessimistics wrong. And how can steve Metai be one of the most punishing hittest in the game with chronic shoulder problems, Ill tell you how and that is because he is a champion player and champion players believe in them selves  and have a never say never attitude and this is why a champion player like Glen Stewart can come back and play rep football again because on his day he is as affective as any back rower. Come on lads ,lets not be pessimistic ,lets be positive.

Re: Rumoured Signings

Just have to wait and see with Brett...only time will tell

Glenn's just gotta keep playing consistant footy. Some of his games lately have been as good as his 08 GF

Re: Rumoured Signings

The only thing that will stop Brett from origin is a guilty verdict
Hayne,Gidley have both shown they are nuffies

Re: Rumoured Signings

There is so much conjecture here it isn't funny. Our team is not the youngest team around but certainly isn't the oldest. The injection of Foran, Rodney, Whare and Hoppa into the team has been a good thing.
