Quac dropped

Olakau’atu will be waking up with a sore head and the further pain he won’t be available to play for the Sea Eagles for at least three weeks.

“There was more maroon than blue, so I was just being a friend,” Olakau’atu said after the game, according to the SMH.

“I wanted to help a brother out … Obviously now [I’m worried]. But in the moment, I was helping out a brother.

“I’ve only met these guys through footy, but to get to know them on a deeper level in camp, it’s a special thing. I wish nothing but the best for all of them.

“There was a whole heap of maroon. I’m just happy the boys got up – I’m happy the boys got the shield to take back home.

“But I’d do the same thing in clubland, 100 per cent ... If it’s one of my brothers at Manly, I’d definitely be in the picture to help them out.”

It’s fair to have a shot at Haumole for getting involved but I think natural instinct to protect his Blues team mates took over.

The big question I have is why is he even allowed on the sideline as a non-player for the match?!?! This responsibility lies with the NRL. He should only be allowed in the grandstand as a spectator.

You see better ground control protocol at U10s park games.

Agree. If anything he should have been in the coaches box.

He's dumber than I thought. He has to help his brothers in a push and shove? Really?
I would have preferred hearing that he said he now realises he's supposed to help his Manly brothers by playing footy with them by not being suspended!!!
This is actually dumber than Aloiai's trip (but only because Aloiai realised in hindsight the trip was dumb, it appears Haumole hasn't yet realised what he did was dumb)

Sorry I might be in the minority here but Manly should deduct at least 20 grand from his salary to teach him a lesson. As he said after the game he has no regrets for what he did. He is a ****ing idiot for coming out and saying that.

Try about 55k fine.

He is on about 800k now. Every game he is getting something like 27k.

Gauc might not be the shiniest penny, however Abdo and the gambling magnet (VLD) may like to ask themselves a few questions about ground management. When a large mob of aggressive players swarm over a bench and officials, what do they think is going to happen?

They can and should let Guac off with a warning due to their inability to provide a safe bench space for players and officials.

That's what I would be arguing quite vehemently if I were the club.

Looks fairly innocuous & more like Holmes is the aggressor but whatever happened immediately prior to what that clip shows would give a better context.
From the wide angle, Ola goes in and grab Holmes.

From SMH:

Holmes said he had no idea who Olakau’atu was at first because he was dressed as a civilian.
“I didn’t know who it was until I turned around and saw someone in a suit,” Holmes said.

“I don’t know what he was doing there. The emotions got the better of him. It’s probably not the best look for himself.
“He was obviously trying to break up the fight, but he was half choking me.”

Pity it wasn't a full choke with upper cut.

So a coach, trainer etc are spectators just like you and I in a crowd.
It's really just semantics and the NRL have stepped in and slapped a charge on him so they obviously see it as a problem. If they see it as a problem and choose to suspend him, it becomes our problem, regardless of whether we consider him a spectator or not.
