Quac dropped

I think he had a good point, for me they should have their respective match suspensions carry over to representative footy, if it be state or representing their countries.
I dont get why anyone has to be suspended for anything ever. Fines are a much better deterrent/punishment. Would you rather time off on full pay or work as normal for garnished wages?

Fines hurt some but for others a mere mosquito bite. That's why rich folks aren't fussed about no parking signs. For thuggery, and things like pretending to screw a pooch (Mitch Pearce!) the game wants to say Oi we have minimum standards here. And ultimately a player who is always suspended incurs the wrath of their club, no matter how rich the club is.

Actually, just on the Haumole and Murray suspensions, coach Maguire should be in trouble for saying he would have done exactly as they did. (If there was any consistency in the NRL, as if, lol).

The fines should be a % of a players salary. The NFL is far more precious about its public image and fines are very effective there even though some of their players are on 100x the highest NRL salary.

Talk about bad luck , could have happened on a more isolated part of the field or on the opposite side with less opportunity to become involved but then could have made it worse in other respects also.. Let alone Haumole being with the N S W side on the sidelines or in Brizy at all
Fault and inconsistences all round and of course hope big time that Burbo can really aim up for the next couple of games .
Bit unorthodox for this stage of the season and circumstances but wonder how Tent could go with a bit of time on an edge , particularly in attack there

What about players in NSW Cup and lesser grades? Many are on pocket money; do they still get fined the same amounts as NRL players?
How long do players have to pay the fine? What happens if they are tardy with payment: do they send JWH around to collect?
How much does the NRL/NSWRL put in their budget projections each year for revenue from fines?
(I know I'm fixated on this subject but I can't help but thinking in conspiratorial terms that the fining system is a PR exercise. There are so many unanswered questions)

That could be JWH’s next role in life: the Tim Bristow of rugby league.

Good point though the severity of the fine would need to be more significant than what it currently is.

If you look at Guacas comments post game he was more than happy too be fined by Manly for the two game suspension.

It’s a balance of what means more to the players, a moment like we seen Wednesday or the remuneration value, the memories of a win like Wednesday will be there forever, or the dollars that pay the mortgage and put food on the table.

Imposing suspensions is such an archaic way of dealing with a player in a professional sport.

Imagine a top Broadway musical and the star gets drunk after the show one night. Are they going to suspend the star from appearing in the next 3 performances of the show? Never. They deal with it another way or rip up the contract and kick out them out altogether.

Why the NRL feels compelled to keep removing its star performers from match days is just nuts. It just hurts the fans and audience.

The players are fulltime. If fines aren't the go, the NRL should impose a penalty that impacts on the player and club during the week, not the game.

The minimum wage for a top 30 squad player is 120k, not bad pocket money tbh for 80min work and a couple of training days. Compared to the average wage at around 80k a year.

I saw him once walking out of his illegal casino at Newport. Huge man and yes, scary looking.

He has with a couple of younger blokes both bigger than him - they come out of an establishment which is still in Pitt St called Penthouse Sydney.

I remember seeing him on the news asked about threats he's made to non union workers on a high rise building. He said he never threatened anyone, but people can have accidents on work sites and when they work up high it can be fatal.
