Why the f@ck do we keep getting Chris Butler as referee ? He seems to be the latest in a long line of bought and paid for, Manly hating, NRL officials.

We've won 7 from 13 games he's referee'd in our games since 2014.

That's 54%.

Bear in mind we've been pretty awful over that span:

Presently: 12th from 16 (33% win ratio)
2020: 13th from 16 (35% win ratio)
2019: 6th from 16 (58% win ratio)
2018: 15th from 16 (29% win ratio)
2017: 6th from 16 (58% win ratio)
2016: 13th from 16 (33% win ratio)
2015: 9th from 16 (46% win ratio)
2014: 2nd from 16 (67% win ratio)

That's a win rate since he started refereeing for us of 44.875% on average for us since 2014.

We are 10% better off than average when he is refereeing. Or would win 1 game in 10 more than on average with him as ref for us.

Geez my life is sad

'Informative', 'funny' AND 'sad' all at once....

Statistics can easily be MANLYPULATED feathered friend

The way we Manlypulated the Titans when the stats and the betting odds gave us no chance of Victory

The moral of the story ....
THE PEOPLE WHO DEFY ADVERSITY AND SUCCEED
ARE NOT THE ONES THAT AVOID FAILURE
THEY ARE THE ONES THAT LEARN TO RESPOND TO FAILURE
WITH GREAT OPTIMISM .

I reckon the tigpies will be mentally shot after the past 2 weeks. Stand up to them in the first 20 minutes and that will be the end of them.
A great coach like Madge can easily mentally psych his team up again on the day

Great wins are all about what happens on the day and not what happend yesterday

The coach who will lift his team on the day will be the Victorious on that day

I’m worried about this game... still scarred by the way they tore us a new one in that trial game! Ripped apart up the middle of the ruck, we will have to be sharp there.

One game a time people. We have to play our best to beat Wests; we haven't earned any right to complacency or thoughts of beating Penrith.
The most encouraging thing to me is that we have not reached our full potential as yet

Confidence is growing and Combinations are starting to function and wins have started coming as a result .

Momentum is by our side but we must keep striving for more success to keep up with it

Few comments on the game:
22 degrees and chance of a Shower at Bankwest. Good conditions for some footy.

1) The Tigers are weak in the Centres.

Chee Kam is a 2nd-rower, and Roberts is an arm-grabbing defensive horror show. With Turbo lurking and Schuster & Foran's slick passing we just need Harper/Parker running some good lines and they will murder Roberts goal-line defence, and catch Chee Kam out of position/wrong-footed. If they decide to late-change Leilua in the centres all the better - he is super lazy, and would likely shift Chee Kam out. Roberts and Lazy-lua is such a weak defensive pairing.

2) Their wingers are a mix

Talau on the wing should be exploited (inexperience), and whilst Nofoaluma is a beast, he is a short beast. We have the height advantage if either of Saab or Garrick are on his edge and we should be bombing the crap out of his edge. Just need to contain him on kick returns - send kicks all day to Talau/Laurie and rag-doll the crap outta them.

3) Halves - we should have the edge:
Cherry has to outplay Brooks, as Brooks has caused us issues in previous games. Brooks has a good kicking game, and Cherry's has been hot and cold.

Doueihi killed us in that comeback win last year (and his goalkicking was on point). Foran needs to reproduce the kicking game from the Tits game - take the short grubbers for repeat sets whilst Daly takes the longer mid-field kicks and/or bombs - worked a treat last week and Foran's short-kicking game is superior to DCE's right now.

4) Fullback - no contest, but don't underestimate Laurie
Laurie at FB carved us up in the Trials, 2 really soft tries from memory - his support play and positioning was top-notch. He's only a little fella tho, and a tall bomb with Turbo leaping for it will be so hard for him to measure up. Just need to smash him a few times on kick-returns to instill a bit of fear in him on the attack so he takes his eyes off the ball and sees Tent about to wig-wham him.

5) Fwds - Prefer our lineup thanks very much
Aside from Tamou, our Forward pack looks a lot meatier than theirs. If Paseka monsters Tamou we should win the middle. Aloiai will be begging to start the game and I won't be surprised to see him out first ahead of Marty/Guac. Looking for him to have an absolute belter.

Overall:
They are a dangerous side for us, and this is a game we simply have to win if we are to show we are heading the right direction. First game we have against a team lower on the ladder than us - those are games you just have to win, else best we can hope for is 9-13. If we keep our complacency in check we really should have this mob wrapped up by half-time.

And lastly, please no injuries....
Go Manly!

Like all that apart from the Tamou bit. He’s a cat, literally a tiger and previously panther. Won’t be easy but we should get them. Worried we might take them a bit easy tho.

Go Manly!
Chee Kam has a habit of pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Not because of huge talent...but he is an anomaly. Watch him!

Another player we let go.
Unfortunately he was pretty injury prone in his stint with Manly . Coming good with injury is just so hard to anticipate and looks like he mainly considered as a centre these days despite previously being a back rower . Not a bad footy player but certainly hope that he is on a losing side tomorrow .

Refs controlling momentum??? We're all shocked!

Holbrook believes the Titans were disadvantaged by an unnecessary discussion, along with another moment in the second half when a scrum had to wait to form while a Rabbitohs forward was treated for cramping.

"I thought we got a bit of momentum there with that try from Peach and the game is meant to quicken up but then we stop for 15 minutes, I thought that's terrific there goes our momentum gone now," Holbrook said.

"Souths got a 10-minute break, they then got a good rest at a scrum which the new rule is if you have cramp you go off the field.
