PRE-GAME DISCUSSION: Sharks v Manly [Round 10, 2019]

Agree that injuries killed us but Des made a good point in the post game presser that we did well enough with the positional changes. Just didn't do enough with the ball to win the game and that in my opinion comes down to having another creative option in the halves with all of our other strike options going off injured.
I reckon Latrell Mitchell would have had a hard time manufacturing points with the way our forwards gassed in the second half on that match. In saying that, what an additional half should do for us this week is provide a kicking option that can turn the opposition pack around and allow us to play on the front foot (which helps keep the petrol tank full).

I have to disagree though, I don't think last week was a mistake by Des. Throwing a young half into the Suncorp cauldron to lead around an injury depleted team against a monster pack would have been irresponsible and unfair on Cust.

Disappointed in Kelepi and Paseka.
Their lack of mongrel is well hidden behind 120kg of muscle 🙁
That's a bit harsh HM.
Both were picked in our top side following strong pre-season efforts but each sustained knee injuries.
I'm sure they have been under massive pressure from the club to get back on the field (just the way of professional footy, not a criticism).
I can imagine running out to play full on rugby league when you have some doubts about your knee must be a trifle difficult. So I'm happy to give both those boys the benefit and they will eventually come back very strongly.

Gummies at home will be too strong especially if their 2 props play. We lack guile and speed without DCE and Turbo plus I fear we're playing too many injured players who need a rest. Would be better to sacrifice this week and give all the injured guys another week to recover.
Gummies x 8

I don't think Cust would have saved us. The issue was injuries. We were going along quite nicely but with all our troops going down in battle, we ended up losing touch with the middle third of the field. When your interchange is a mess and you have forwards playing in the backs, there is no one left with the energy to hold the middle. Basically, they ground us down until we had nothing left in the tank and scored a few tries at the back end of game against tired bodies.
Yep
They all did their bust but we had too many trombones in the flute section

Good work Mick

I’ve let the side down and gone for the Eagles!!

After just 1 FG game this season Croker must be the biggest fan turnaround ever.

I'm happy for this kid who showed through juniors that he is a highly skilled player and got the rawest of deals under Barrett and i'm proud I never let him down, in true Manly style. I wish him every success, not just for us, but for himself.
The kid is all heart and guts.
