PRE-GAME DISCUSSION: Raiders v Manly [Round 6, 2020]

So Chez cops it for his bad (and the imaginary with a 'certain' 4 points and the Tapau injury) while Walkz is praised for his good (suggest you have a 4th look at how much effort he made to get to Staggs - "Yours!")... makes sense now...
Your mind is obviously made up on DCE which makes any further discussion pointless...
Watching 4th time now and my friend how can you blame walker for staggs try? The winger passes past walker to Staggs who is facing our goal line whereas walker is facing the winger. He passes past walker to Staggs who accelerates quickly and kicks straight away. Walker had no chance.

Turbo on Boyd.... was a bit soft, did you see dce run out leaving his outside backs shot to pieces? Turbo could of been stronger.

As for marty injury here's how it goes.
On the 3rd tommy is next to dce who looks like he's going to chip kick yet he kicks long and they score the staggs try.. off the kick off marty 2nd tackle gone for the night. So yeah chain of events.. no crap kick no try no injury.. turbo could of got the chip kick and we had garrick and dce running through maybe not certain but highly likely as the fb is waaaay back like 50 meters on his goal line.. perfect for a chip kick but old mate changed his mind last second because he buckled again

Not saying walkz COULD have got to Staggs (and the try was not his fault) but it sure would have been nice to see him try - he just spectated and made no attempt to get back...
Turbos miss was fair enough as his weight was going the wrong way too...
My point was only that there are good and bad points in the 80 for all players if we want to look for them and the things Cherry did were critical moments in the game... dive for sure but if he doesnt have the match awareness and effort to do it we dont come back from 24-0 to win - simple as that... nice grubber too wasn't it?
I get that you want to see those creative plays (I do too) and maybe they will come out this week as the 1st game against Raiders last year had a lot of great spine combinations and was exciting to watch...

And yeah, massive props for your dedication... 4 watches is a huge effort, I'm thinking you either have a man cave or your single (I know I would be if I watched Manly games back that much )

Everyone here is being a bit harsh on our form.
After a long break. The boys had 3 games in 11 days. We shouldve been 3/3 if it wasn’t for a certain touchie. this 10 day turn around will do wonders for the boys.
Chooks v Eel is the so-called match of the year between the 2 standout heavyweight title contenders. We've beaten the Chooks and had a moral victory over the Eels so our form is not too shabby. The 5 day turnaround before the Broncos game didn't help us but I thought that game was also quite an outstanding effort to come back from such a slow start.
Raiders will be a massive challenge, especially containing Wighton, but I expect a tough close game.

Staggs is a top class centre also and is regularly going to make quite a few plays seem easy . Ironic that he was seriously being considered by Manly when there was a lot of uncertainty about Walkers situation with Manly and before that was resolved and then when the Broncs locked him down not long afterwards . Plenty of confidence that Walker will continue to do most things right and be a real asset

I think the fact that we are never out of the game (except last 20 of Storm) will put us in good stead... our boys are competitors and they are fit which will be very important towards end of season with no byes this year... we are in this comp up to our ears imo...

The Raiders didn't exactly produce a heart stopping performance against the Tigers. Yes they are a very robust side, however, most teams know they are in for a beast of a game when they face Manly. We are down on a few troops, but these are the sort of games Des loves, and prepares the boys well for the unexpected result. I expect our captain to have an outstanding game so Tom has more opportunities in attack. I'm tipping Manly to win by 1 point Daly field goal. Des will fire AFB up to bring the house down. Best of Luck boys on Sunday!

lets be honest. Manly love a day game and love a dry track. The lack of kicking game is offset by this and we perform better tossing it around, quickly for yardage.

Our fitness counts and cherry plays well aganst a tiring defence that retreats. Thats his thing. Its when turbo gets to dummy half more as well.

Im with you mate.. manly in a close one! We need to start fast no more catch up footy

Realistically the way we've been playing + down on troops against an excellent well coached very strong team suggests we should lose by 12-16 pts. Everyone will need to play out of their skins (especially our halves) if we are to have any hope. As TheBetterRobbo alluded to correctly earlier we will have to play our smartest tactical game of the year and execute those plans perfectly. It might be early days but this game will be a pretty fair barometer of whether we're in for a good season or a fairly mediocre one. Let's hope Sunday is the day we get it all together. Go Manly

This game is going to be too tight for comfort and to win we have to do all the little things right
We will give our selves a chance with a good kicking game and ball control .
