PRE-GAME DISCUSSION: Penrith v Manly [Round 8, 2021]

I’m not a fan of those that conspiracy theories and that think the NRL are against Manly, because whatever any whines about, normally happens to other clubs too,but how can the NRL allow a team,Penrith in this instance, have a 9 day turn around to its opponents,Manly this time,6 day turn around?
I was just thinking how ridiculous it is that the NRL can create a draw that puts any two teams against each other where one has a 6-day turnaround, and one has a 9-day turnaround. How is that fair?? This will give us next to no chance - not that it wasn't hard enough playing the full-strength best team in the comp

Sometimes the longer turnaround can actually be the disadvantage. Can't blame the schedule if we lose even though it's not a help.

We have had some poor starts this year but we haven't been hammered early by the ref to the point we are gassed and can't hang on. This my be that game. I hope not.

If it is a level-ish playing field we are a good chance at knocking them over.
The ref in the wests game gave it a good go. Penalties and multiple 6 agains early. He then evened it up at about the 25 min mark and then we let loose. After that he put the whistle away.

What about a draw that pits us against The Riff and The Worriers TWICE in the first nine rounds when we haven't met:
Donkeys
Eels,
Knights,
Cowboys,
Dogs,
Raiders,
Sharks, and
Storm
ONCE?

Congrats to Guacamole on getting the starting gig ... rip in mate. ... I can see him getting gassed pretty early with the speed of the opening stanza given his lack of footy ... but he will only get better for the run ....
Guac and Marty have been named to start for the last 2 weeks and have been swapped for Keppie and Aloiai one hour before kickoff. Fully expect the same changes this week.

the NRL has not been fair, equal or democratic for many many years. Trying to fix it now, well, that horse bolted so long ago, has since converted into areldite, and the two parts have been unintentionally mixed, and that has set.
To put Panthers off their game a little, i reckon we need Jorge T to come on for 20 minutes and do a few 'specialty hits'. Other than some 'creative tactics', we'll do well to lose by a small margin. We'll have to play 'out of our skins'. Can it be done?. Of course.
Is it likely ? No. Lets' see what master coach Dessie has up his sleeve . . . .

Panthers at $1.15, Manly paying $5.25.
I think we are the only ones confident!
I am surprised at those odds

Sure the Panthers would be favourites but not by that much

Those odds reflect our round 4 white flag surrender team mentality

Our round 8 team has developed resilient defence and a knock out punch that can bring the Panthers down to their first loss of the season .

We have what it takes to take the 2 points . We just have to work very hard at it on game day

Parra have had the easiest draw for the last couple of years.. 1st 8 rounds they played storm and Canberra. The rest bottom 8 or bottom 4.. they play broncos twice in the 1st 8 weeks and we get panthers twice in the 1st 8 weeks

I look at it to our advantage to have the tougher draw
As tough times build Tough Men

We make the most of what comes our way
No excuses . Just Brutal Executions
