[Resurrected] Please, please Trent... Pick Tom Wright

Happy for the young bloke. Always been a fan and tonight he showed a glimpse of what he is capable of. Defensive issues ... sure, so does Maloney and he is playing Origin. It’s his X factor which was on show tonight, which is what we have been missing. Given also he hasn’t trained at 6 at all, with some time to gel with DCE and Turbo they could be special and provide us with multiple attacking threats.

If you're referring to Tom Wright, he has never been a Rooster's junior. He was a product out of Rugby Union and came straight to manly from that code.

Actually I meant an Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union Junior.
That alone is enough for the Roosters to claim them as one of their own lol

Similer to cody walker and what he brings to souths. Tom wright could build up a good combination with tommy.

At least keep him on the bench every week and give him game time.

Can fill a number of back line positions and even with a fit api, you could give api a break and put hodgo into 9 and bring tom wright on at 6 and play a roving role like peachy

I can see the two Toms working out a very interesting combination. I hope Barrett wakes up to it. The two of them have outstanding talent and if coached properly could make a lethal combination.

And the sad thing is he will probably be dropped next week when Walker returns. The one player with some spark, but not in Barrett's list of safe and slow.

Imagine if Trent got inventive and attacking and picked Wright at 5/8th, Walker at centre and had them swap positions a few times during the match.

Mate, was just about to post same thing. Walker could defend at 5/8 and tom wright at centre and switch them up in attack. Tommy, wright and walker with early ball would be a handful

With one dynamic run where this kid took the line and made total fools of the Dragqueens defence is surely enough evidence that this boy deserves a chance to build his career, yes its true!! defensively he has much to learn but he will have learned more tonight in the 60 minutes or so that he played that he would have learned in an entire season at Blacktown!!!

Tom Wright's defence needs a lot of work, but we knew that about the kid anyway.

But what he showed tonight was that with the ball in hand he offers far more than either Matt Wright or Brad Parker ever have or ever will. And he did that against the current competition leaders no less.

When Walker comes back from his injury, which probably will be against Penrith, I'd be keeping Tom Wright in the side on the bench at least and dropping both Parker and Matty (depending on Suli's injury) while having another forward (Tanginoa?) on the bench.

Just looking at the stats on defensive issues
Young Tom Wright in his first full game missed 5 tackles and the older Kelly in his second NRL season missed 6
Tom's defence can only get better with more NRL experience .
Tom Wright has speed and skill comparable to superstars Walker and Tom Turbo and the explosive try that he scored verified that .
Walker and Tom Wright in the centres would be an exciting and lethal combination

The main point to be made is Tom Wright posses speed and skill that few players have and when given an opportunity showed tonight what a talent he is and so early in his career . The knockers will point to his defence ; his speed made the dragons look silly tonight which few people have done recently.

Statistics mean whatever you want to interpret them to. Kelly was left high and dry several times by his teammates in defence and attack today.

Please don't compare obscuring numbers to foster your your love of TW and pathetic criticism of Kelly.

TW did good today, Kelly was let down by others a lot.

Be humble, not arrogant.

Geez he ldoes have something and he needs to be nurtured. You have to resist him a little longer. Give him a few more cameos off the bench and slip him back to reggies when we get a few back. If he responds get him back on the bench and start him last game of the season but still sub him

Give him the taste and let him build up a bit more in the off season. Make joel thomson his minder in the offseason under the guise that he will play on joels side and joel will look after him as He will be targeted .

I think its obvious the kid has ability but the nrl season is tough, our team isnt making the finals. Lets make sure we dont **** up his entry by burning him out with expectation and putting too much pressure on him for a clutch play. Keep him fresh, eager over the off season and see what we get in 2019 .

I also like him as a sub for a while as it will make it a bit harder for opposition to target his defence , if he can bob up here and there as opposed to being parked in the backline just yet , where they can run set pkays with big fast men at him isolated and backpeddling as our defence does often

Its just what i reckon.

You have (maybe not succinctly) summed up the whole point of my OP JBB... this kid has skill and apeed which he showed yesterday and I would H8 to see him lost thru lack of opportunity
He needs to be able to see light at the end of the tunnel and our current mess gives us the chance to blood him (and hopefully fainu too if JH leaves by June 30)

Cleary ? Ponga ? If you are good enough you are old enough. Stop messing around and play the kid.Hes not a prop. This team needs some spark.
